les paulverizer Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Hey Kazwell, can you believe G actually ask people money for that thing??????????????? Let's face it, we're all here and wailin' on our beautiful Heritage's because a certain brand (G) started "something" years ago in Kalamazoo; no problem with that, but frankly I don't know what the heck they though they were doin' when they decided to come up with that abortion! Oh well, maybe a certain Henry "Lewinsky" has a sense of humor......maybe....!
yoslate Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Kazwell: Is that the bituminous or anthracite model? ;D
Kazwell Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 [blackened salmon body?/quote] Nope actually thats an unsanded maple top. I imagine if someone actually purchased this thing, they could end up with quite a few splinters on their hands. From all accounts, this attempt at minimalist art gone wrong was a complete failure, but not enough to prevent Fender from marketing these beauties: Joe Strummer of the Clash Signature http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics/products/9/9/9/525999.jpg[/img] Rory Gallagher Signature http://www.gbase.com/files/store_images/484/1782938/photo1_81d00.jpg[/img] At least these were actually "aged". Those clowns in G word land should charge much less than the 1K price tag for an incomplete product they are pawning off as if it were and aged custom shop creation. Of course then they would HAVE to stick a 10K price tag on them !!!! >
Kazwell Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Kazwell: Is that the bituminous or anthracite model? well you made me wiki these terms yoslate and to tell you the truth either coal type you mentioned could be burned for some type of energy which would give it SOME type of purpose, IF it were made of coal. I believe the wood that our friends in G word land would also burn quite well, but do this with caution since the stain they used was purchased from various third world countries that do not sanction toxins that have been banned in western countries for the past 50 years and could give off harmful fumes -especially when used as firewood.
PacerX Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 I would like a white H-157 with gold hardware, red abalone inlays, a 1 and 7/8ths inch wide neck at the nut with a 15" (or higher) fretboard radius, packing a covered JB in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck, with a push/pull pot that splits the coils out of phase. Heh... Not much chance of seeing that in regular production, but that's my kinda guitar.
golferwave Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 And remember all you Heritage dreamers, if you have been naughty, Santa will fill your stockings with this POS: http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics/products/8/6/3/460863.jpg[/img] so you better be good for goodness sake!!! After all it is the Gbrand LP POS model right? or the BFG? or the?
skydog52 Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 DC Millennium Sunset Burst H-157 Old Style Sunburst ( If I'm lucky!) I've got them on order. ;D
Kazwell Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Heritage Roy Clark Model with image of Roy "the greatest picker (at least on Hee Haw) who ever lived" Clark burned into the front like so: http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii260/Kazwell2002/RoyClarkHeritage.jpg?t=1197330956[/img] Cause nothing says Christmas like a Heritage Roy Clark Model with image of Roy "the greatest picker (at least on Hee Haw) who ever lived" Clark burned into the front!!!!!!
Gitfiddler Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 A Korina H150CM, w/Vintage Sunburst finish on top, Duncan Antiquities, RS Kit, Sperzels, Bone Nut, Long Tenon, Pig Tail stoptail and fat 50's neck... Ahhhhh, a Christmas corksniffer's delight:) Well now, finally something REALLY special for Christmas! Sweet choice, V23505. I'd go for a fat-neck'd, creme bound, three p'up H157 with three volume pots and a single master tone control...in tuxedo black, of course. Too bad I was naughty this year. :'(
Dick Seacup Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Cause nothing says Christmas like a Heritage Roy Clark Model with image of Roy "the greatest picker (at least on Hee Haw) who ever lived" Clark burned into the front!!!!!! +1 karma for making me laugh.
Kazwell Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 OK let's get serious now. I call the color of this bad boy 575 "Rustic Blue" Santa-so tell your elves to take note, and YES, I will take it with SD Antiquities in the neck and a Bill Lawrence L-500 in the bridge. And what the heck, while were at it a Mesa Boogie Stilleto Trident with a 4-12 Celestion Cab with a sound proof room to go slowly deaf in. And bring a chilled bottle of Jim Beam while your at it cause I'm gonna be a rockin ALL night!!!! 8),....pretty please?.......Santa..? you there..? http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii260/Kazwell2002/Blue575.jpg?t=1197339529[/img]
Kazwell Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 And hows about one in Christmas Tree green? http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii260/Kazwell2002/Green575.jpg?t=1197345470[/img]
Windstring Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 And hows about one in Christmas Tree green? http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii260/Kazwell2002/Green575.jpg?t=1197345470[/img] I sense I may have started the downhill spiral here, what with my mention of custom colors and the like. Anyway, these artistic impressions gave me a good laugh. Seriously, though, I did once see a nice green Johnny Smith on gbase a couple of years ago, and it had all the tap tuning and stuff. I do sense that acoustic archtop lovers like me are in the minority - perhaps we are plunging back into another dark era of solid planks, like what caused the first "archtop pleistocene period" (circa 1960-1980) which coincided, of course, with the advent of rock and roll (although Bill Haley and Scotty Moore made a valiant effort with their jazzboxes). BTW, that green is almost "camo green" - a good guitar to take to the Front! Cheers.

I was just trying to bring a chuckle to folks and perhaps raise an eyebrow or two and maybe get some people here thinking "Did Ed Roman do THAT to a Heritage!!!" I would call the green thang more of a tortise shell, but hey with all the bloodshed and war in this world the camo would definately make a statement on stage. I personnally love the archtop sound and as a teenage punk in the mid 70's (sure many of you got that "rebel without a clue but still proud vibe" already:) I remember Ted Nugent in his heyday, and quite frankly my 30 years plus playing since could definately provide the mindless penatonic madness to complement the feedback sustain that would scream out of that 575. Oh yeah, I played mostly jazz and classical back then, guess the rock n roll madman alter ego emerged from the St. Louis teenage repression. And thats the whole sad story..... 8)

Appreciate your postings. slate
Dick Seacup Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 I know I can't, but man, that Prospect that's ending in a couple of hours on feePay is going cheap, Cheap, CHEAP! I would love to throw a $900 bid in on that with a couple seconds left. That's a lot of guitar for not a lot of gelt (right now it's at $840!). Enough dreaming for me, back to wrapping presents for the spawn. :-

I was just trying to bring a chuckle to folks and perhaps raise an eyebrow or two and maybe get some people here thinking "Did Ed Roman do THAT to a Heritage!!!" Kazwell, No offence taken, I assure you! I perhaps did things in reverse, that is started listening to, and trying to play, Creedence then realized that "regal" blues players like BB and Freddie were the "origins" of so many other styles, then moved on from my own pentatonic flailing towards a love for that "altered chord". This coincided with my inability to cope with extreme volume on stage, but not soon enough to avoid permanent hearing loss. Anyway, I think we agree that archtops can have a wonderful acoustic sound, and that is not to say that I don't like the sound of a good plank cranked up through an overdriven Fender Deluxe Reverb too! Cheers.
AnH555 Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 If Santa's buying I'll take a Sweet 16, special order - thinline, with dual HRW's and coil taps. Then all I'd need is a Zinky Blue Velvet and some earmuffs. Ho freaking Ho!
JohnCovach Posted December 13, 2007 Author Posted December 13, 2007 I know I can't, but man, that Prospect that's ending in a couple of hours on feePay is going cheap, Cheap, CHEAP! I would love to throw a $900 bid in on that with a couple seconds left. That's a lot of guitar for not a lot of gelt (right now it's at $840!). It sold at $870--a bargain for somebody. This is a good time to buy used Heritages, since I expect the prices on these guitars to rise within the next two to three years. No matter what happens under new ownership, the original guys are all retiring, meaning there will only be a certain number of "original" Heritages left (the ones we all own now). That's my rationalization for stocking up anyway.

The way the stock market is currently going, guitars seem like better investments but then again, no one should listen to my financial advice!
n4kma Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Hello folks, I am new to the Heritage forum. I hope that there will be an H-550 under my tree this Christmas. But can not make up my mind if to get one with SM59's, or Seth Lovers! Any suggestions guys? Best to all this Christmas season... ;D
High Flying Bird Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 And remember all you Heritage dreamers, if you have been naughty, Santa will fill your stockings with this POS: http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics/products/8/6/3/460863.jpg[/img] so you better be good for goodness sake!!! Kaz, last summer I was in Nashville and went to the Gibson store. I saw one of these things on the rack and started laughing. The photo doesn't do justice to how bad this guitar looks. It would make Neil Young step back and say, "Dahemn!"* Southern talk for "Damn!" This is the guitar that has me all light headed. I would get a Chet Atkins arm for the Bigsby, cream colored pickup rings and gold knobs for this as fast as a cat can lick it's...paw. http://www.gbase.com/Stores/Gear/GearDetai...spx?Item=858929
Gitfiddler Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 That H-550 at Wolfe's is really a seductive lady! If any of you guys score one, please post a review. 550's look like such a perfect gig-able guitar for many styles of music.
JohnCovach Posted December 21, 2007 Author Posted December 21, 2007 That 550 thin in wine red is something special. I think I'd rather not have the Bigsby though.
