very sweet 16

Wondering if any "old" Heritage guys recognize this. I recently got this from JW. Contacted Heritage and got a nice note from Ren that he was the one who set it up, Im still looking for further history. This is a '90 in addition to the head stock it has 5ply binding on the f holes! It also has a mounted TW Doyle pickup which I have seen on other 16s but the knob locations and rear end pin jack make me wonder if this was originally a floater. Hard to believe someone would order a one off custom guitar and then further "modify" it. Although nothing was done that effects structural or playability the mods stradle the line between modified and vandalized. That said, Im not changing  anything. I own a few nice Heritages but this one is my current favorite player....just trying to get some history.

Thanks for lookin, any intel appreciated, Rick

On this site it works best to host the pictures on another picture hosting site, like flickr, imugr, smugmug, etc... then link to the picture in a post here.

Nah, that only works until someone fills up their flickr account and starts deleting photos.  Then you end up with a bunch of dead links.    The board is full of them (just go back to look at all the lost PSP pictures!!!).

The problem is that phones today have those dang 20MP cameras and the pictures are 3 and 4 MB in size.  The board limit is 1.5MB.   The best thing that I've found is to dump to a computer, use Irfanview to resize to somethng reasonable like 1280 or 1024 and then post the JPGs.  Limit them to under 1.5MB and just drag and drop into the message.   It will stay there forever.

Well Im not sure I got the image size optimized for 1.5M but here goes, a few snaps to see if it works. Had a great talk with Ren yesterday. He remembers the guitar, the headstock in particular but also the f hole binding and the Doyle p.u.  Seems players like to compare the S16 and the 575 to 175's for some reason. Ive been playing a 175 as my primary instrument for 50yrs. I dont think they're anything like a 175 in sound or playability. Im not parting with my 175 anytime soon but I havent stopped playing this 16 since it hit the door. Glad I found a spot with fellow Heritage enthusiast's so I could show it to someone, It feels like this could well be my main axe for however long  i can play. I had never heard of the p.u. before. I think it sounds amazing and really brings out the acoustic quality of the sound but with a fullness you get from a mounted p.u. into a tube (deluxe) amp. Im an old guy now but this box makes me feel like Im 14 again and am rediscovering that "new thing" excitement. So thanks for lookin I hope you can see my pictures,

Rick

Hey fellow old guy.  That's a mighty smart looking 16 you got there.  You'll find we folks here enjoy the type of guitar porn you've provided.

We don't get too many Sweet 16s showing up here.  Yours is quite stunning.  Thank you for sharing.

Glad you got the pictures working; those were certainly worth the wait!

What a spectacular beauty you have there.

Ain't nobody got time for all that! LOL

I hear you on the old dead links... the death of photobucket as we all knew it was the largest culprit of those old dead posts. There is certainly an element of convenience though. I use smugmug; I can snap a picture with my phone, or sync with the big camera via my phone, and quickly upload to smugmug, via my phone. Then just tap on the picture to get it's link, and tap here to post the picture. Of course, it comes with a long term commitment to not move or delete that picture... but the allure of going from picture to post in a minute, all over phone, is kind of nice.

I do as little on the phone as possible, save phone calls, email and texts.    Personally,  I HATE trying to work on a phone.
