PunkKitty Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 A friend has a black H-140 with a neck repair that was done by Chicago Fretworks. Nice looking guitar, but he wants to sell it. I'm running into dead ends regarding pricing for this. Any advice?
Jaguarguy Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 I can't imagine spending more $800 - $900 on this guitar. I've seen H140 for $1,200- $1,300. Take off 1/3 for the neck repair (which was not refinished properly IMHO).
davesultra Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 I’d say $700-$900. Neck repairs on used Heritages devalue them much more than a Gibbons with one.
Genericmusic Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 According the the The Official Vintage Guitar Price Guide (2023) the guitar is worth $1,575. The guide suggest a 50% deduction for a broken headstock. $800 seems appropriate.
DetroitBlues Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 Also, the used market is on a downward spiral. Used gear pricing is dropping. I’d say to sell quickly, be under that $800 price
brentrocks Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 If it was a killer flame top, I’d say $900 black….good repair…I’d say $700
PunkKitty Posted July 7, 2023 Author Posted July 7, 2023 Don't know how the neck profile is. I'll speak with the owner tomorrow.
