Paul P Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 I just finished playing my H-535 for a bit and what an experience ! I've loved blues all my life and started on a quest to be able to play some maybe five years ago when I bought an acoustic and started to learn some Delta Blues. My idea was to start at the beginning and work my way up to what I really wanted to play, Chicago 50s style electric blues and then maybe onto some early rock. I've spent a lot of my spare time putting together my gear and haven't really been able to play as much as I'd want to until now. I put on a BB King greatest hits CD that I've had for a year or so but had never played along with. Wow ! I sound almost the same as he does. No, not the music, but the tone ! I couldn't believe it. I'm playing through a 10-watt single ended Fender style tube amp and used quite a bit of spring reverb, and played through the neck pickup (I have the standard Schaller pickups). The speaker is a 12" Eminence alnico Red Fang. I'm getting all these sounds that I've always heard but never had a clue of how they were produced. And there seems to be no end to the number of different sounds. Just play a bit different in some way and a whole new sound come out. Amazing. And my guitar is so easy to play. I had 12s on my acoustic and 11s until recently on my 535, and just put on some DR Pure Blues 10s. It's so easy to bend the strings all of a sudden and the action is so low that I hardly have to press on the strings to play a note. It's like the guitar plays itself. I love my guitar. I love my amp. I don't even know how to play and I sound great 8)
yoslate Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Congrats, Paul! I think your post is just a slight variation on the theme we're all pursuing, each in our own way. Well done! 8)
shook494 Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Nice to hear you're happy with the sound. I'm still searching I'm getting closer though
High Flying Bird Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 ....... and just put on some DR Pure Blues 10s. I have used those strings for years. I love them too. They fit real good on my 535.
brentrocks Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 I love my guitar. I love my amp. I don't even know how to play and Isound great 8) Good for you Paul!!! i am in the same boat...i cant play either, but at least we have good taste in guitars ;D
pjoshh Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 I play my H535 through a Fender Champ 12 valve (tube) amp and she sings like a bitch. Crank up the volume and the sustain and tone are second to none. My H535 has HRWs and I find that they need to be pushed quite hard but having only 12 watts means that the punters are not blown through the wall!! Welcome to the club Paul P.
