Sparky Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 That's one fine looking guitar. Every time I see one with MOP crowns or blocks I wonder why they ever bother with the dots. No offense to "dot neckers", they're fine, but the other way just looks so right to me. I bought my H170CMSM in 2002 and 360 days later it arrived. I had 'em put the dots on it because the translucent blue quilt top was so visually strong I feared the blocks or traps would have made it a little too much. Not that it matters now... its for sale on flea-bay to help finance my H110 which will be ordered when ol'Blue has moved on.
slider313 Posted March 29, 2009 Author Posted March 29, 2009 It all depends on the guitar; I like a dot neck 137 or 535, a trap neck 150 or 170, a block neck 147,157 and 555. Kind of traditional so to speak.
Bombassa Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Seems like I am one of the first here on this forum to own a Heritage . I got my H140 Goldtop 1986 as new, it is still in original condition, with no scratches. ( I am playing, not collecting guitars). If I remember right, I got it late the same year. Bombassa
hubberjub Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I bought my Eagle used from Ithaca Guitar Works in 2000 and my 535 used from Wolfe in 2005. I'm thinking it's about time for another.
barrymclark Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 We can start the clock on my ownership next week! I started a savings system for future Heritage's. Is that weird? ??? Of the ones I want, I am just not sure which to go for first. I am thinking I want something different sounding in a solid body from the 140. I was thinking the 137DC with the all mahogany and p90's. The other one is the 157 but I don't really know how far removed sound wise from the 140. More wood and HRW's... but still humbuckers. After talking to some dealers, there is only a five hundred dollars between the models I want. Five hundred is a lot... but if I have gotten to 1800, why not just wait a bit longer and get the 2300 or so for an 157. I would like them both pretty equally. Oh well. I got a LOT of time saving to figure it out.
Paul P Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 I started a savings system for future Heritage's. Is that weird? ??? No, but I can pretty much guarantee your kid-to-come will gobble up the fund. Maybe not right away but soon enough ;D
barrymclark Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 No, but I can pretty much guarantee your kid-to-come will gobble up the fund.Maybe not right away but soon enough ;D Not my first rodeo. haha. Got two older girls. They are in their teens. They gobble up plenty. I am going to do my best to keep this one aside.. but emergencies ALWAYS arise. haha. We shall see. Family first.
nat120 Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I have only owned a Heritage for almost a week and I love. I also have a G standard and owend a G Custom before. I am really liking the H-157 and cannot wait to buy my next one.
gopeteygo Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I bought my 1st one, a 535 from Elderly's in September of '08. I bought my 2nd one from Brent in October of '08. I bought my 3rd one from Heritage 525, an H137 in TV yellow in January of '09. So far they've all been keepers. I sold an ES 335 after I bought my 535. It was nice, but I wouldn't say I miss it.

Bombassa Nice to meet you, Bombassa... my Heritage Brother! You and I both walked into a music store, 23 years ago, tested several guitars and spotted our true love in an ocean of brand names. We didn't succomb to the hype, but instead both walked out with one of the finest instruments, bearing a yet unknown logo and available only in very small numbers in Europe at the time. Like you, I bought my 1986 H-127 Custom brand new, to be played, not to collect dust. For 22 years, she was my only instrument - in France and Canada, when I moved in 1989. She is in fine condition, as you'll see in the pics. I brought it with me to the 1st HOC reunion last summer, to show the guys... and her creators intentionally "scratched" her real bad, but I didn't mind ;-) Cheers to the 1986 Heritage Brothers! backline Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 In 1998 I bought a new ('97) Eagle second. It had two minute cracks over the end blocks under the finish, so it was designated a second. That was my first. I've since had another Eagle, H-550 Custom, and a different H-575 than the one I have now (which is an '07).
campfire Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 I bought my first Heritage (a brand new H-575) from Washington Music in 1988. Also from that store over the next few years, an H-550, and an Eagle Classic. (also brand new) In 1995, I bought a Heritage Johnny Smith "Rose". After the year 2000, I bought 3 Heritages from Jay Wolfe. A Triple Nickel (H-555), a Super Eagle florentine cutaway prototype Kenny Burrell (OSB), and an Eagle "slimline" antique natural with the most quilted back & sides I've ever seen. I still have the Eagle and Super Eagle, unfortunately all the others managed to slip away over the years. They were (and are) GREAT guitars, and I love them all. I guess this qualifies me as a Senior HOC member even if I have only been around here for a year or so, and don't post much. I really do love Heritage guitars, and have from day one. I will always own a Heritage guitar, period. I recognized their quality as being reminiscent of the "old days" and it turns out I was right. It's good to be right occasionally. (ask any married man) Long live Jay Wolfe! Larry Camp www.larrycamp.com www.myspace.com/larrycampjazz
