zakk91 Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 hi first of all sorry for my english cause i live in france. i saw on gary moore site that he play on a 150 model with emg active pick up 81! i'm very surprising cause this pick up are mounted for the metal music not for the blues. it's impossible to find on the web, sample of this guitar with this pick up could you help me? in what song did he use this guitar configuration pleaze? thx have a nice day
GuitArtMan Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Gary is probably better known for his hard rock/heavey metal playing than he is for his blues. I can't point to any one song where he might have used his signature Heritage, but I'm sure it's from his earlier rock/metal days.
Dick Seacup Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Bienvenue au Club, zakk91! Mon francais est terrible, ainsi je m'en tiendrai a l'anglais! I don't know where you could find clips of the Gary Moore edition, but I do know where you could buy one! Guitar Adoptions has a Mint Condition 1991 Gary Moore #58. With the exchange rate, you might get a bargain. As to where you can hear it, I believe you can see him playing a Heritage GM signature on the Live At Montreaux DVD. EDIT: I think shows him playing a Heritage.
Gitfiddler Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Bienvenue au Club, zakk91! Mon francais est terrible, ainsi je m'en tiendrai a l'anglais! What he said! And Welcome, Zakk91! Your English is better than many of us who be in the US.

skydog Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I believe that is the same pickup that zakk wylde uses also.
skydog Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 woow! just went to the GA site. All his prices are high! real high!
squawken Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 That's strange, as he had a few 150's at very reasonable prices a few months ago.
Kazwell Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I believe that is the same pickup that zakk wylde uses also. And for my American bros... I have a LP style guitar which currently has a Zakk Wylde set EMG 81 neck and EMG 85 bridge. Many folks find the 81 too bassy and put it in the bridge position. I find it interesting that Gary Moore uses the 81 in both positions. I happen to like the sound, especially when I want to rock out hard. A lot of folks say they dislike the EMG for clean sounds, but if you play around with your settings you can get some really nice tones. With some heavy compression I can get the 85 pu to sound damn close to a Strat set to bridge when it is wide open. Sounds to me like someone can upgrade to this sound, if they so choose, for around $200 if they install these pickups themselves-requires replacement of volume and tone pots since they use a 25K resistance level. And of course there's the 9 volt battery.
yoslate Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Ungratulationscay, Azwellkay! Imay ifeway ezsay orya Enchfray isay itequay oodgay! Eeshay eakspay uentflay Enchfray. I've never posted anything in a foreign language before.... Guess I still haven't. Props to Kazwell and Dick for doing more for Franco-American relations than seven years of the current administration! Guitar diplomacy! Imagine the possibilities! What a concept!
skydog Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 That's strange, as he had a few 150's at very reasonable prices a few months ago. I know. I bought my first 150 there because he had the best prices. I'll go to Jay next time for personal reasons, but I was surprised at the high prices too.
golferwave Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 About six years ago there was an H-150 Gary Moore signature model on ebay and it went for $850.00. I was watching the auction and wanted to bid but thought that it wasn't worth it. It had some buckle rash and a few dings so I didn't bid. What a dummy!
tulk1 Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 As to where you can hear it, I believe you can see him playing a Heritage GM signature on the Live At Montreaux DVD. There's a member over on Harmony Central EG that owns that very guitar. Bought it from GM's stage manager, or something like that. Verified that it's the same Heritage GM. Not that it helps zakk91's search, but interesting to know that guitar is here in the States.
CrustHunter Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Lane Zastrow told me that Gary Moore plays a Heritage H150 on the "After The War" album and there is a picture on the cover of him holding a Heritage with his name on the truss rod cover, just dont look inside the CD sleeve notes!
jacques Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 On the Live at Montreux dvd Moore plays just one song on this Heritage and then changes very quickly to a G***. I don't understand why he like all the 'big' stars seems to want to get rid of his Heritage in favour of G****s. (remember the Mick Taylor Heritage from a little while ago? There's a smilar story about Gary Boyle). Does G**** pay these people? About his playing: I remember my very experienced electric guitar teacher -well versed in anything old Clapton, Hendrix, Peter Green you name 'em- when he heard Moores 'Nothing but the blues'. "This guy doesn't LIKE what he's playing and wants to get it over with as soon as possible." Just compare the Stumble video (linked in Dick's post) with Peter Green's original or listen to Clapton's All your lovin' next to Moore's. Funnily enough there's a comment about Moore's playing below that video where some guys discuss the very same thing. And EMG's are lifeless too imho!
Kazwell Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Does G***** pay these people? This may explain something about Gary Moore's reason for going to Gibson.... http://www.gibson.com/products/gibson/LesP...arymoorelp.html
Gitfiddler Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 The Gary Moore signature models are supposed to be really great guitars...by EITHER Heritage or Gibson. And yes, the artists get a piece of the action from sales of each instrument. Even Fender pays their endorsees about $100+/- bucks for each of their signature Strats n' Teles. Do any of you guys know if Heritage pays its endorsees?
Kuz Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Spoke to Ren specifically about this. The pay little to nothing. Ren said Roy Clark gets nothing, and I think he said Kenny B. get next to nothing. He said that's why they leave Heritage. They love Heritage guitars but F & G through out big bucks. BTW PRS doesn't pay it's endorses either. Side note, no doubt Gary M. can play, but sometimes a little goes a long way. I'd rather listen to 3 hrs of Luther Allison than 1.5 hrs of Gary M. Just my .02 (although I would die for a Gary Moore Heritage sig guitar ;D)
zakk91 Posted December 22, 2007 Author Posted December 22, 2007 ;)thx bro! i' practice english for a while but it' easier for me to speak than write! if i understood gar do'nt use for the blues rock sound? only metal like zakk wylde wild west! have a merry xmas from paris(not texas!) cheers zakk
jaywolfe Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 I have a couple of Heritage Gary Moore Sig. models.and will consider selling one at a 'reasonable" price. Please contact me if interested. jay@wolfeguitars.com FYI: Terry Haselden in the UK was H's importer/Distr. at the time, knew Gary & set up the endorsement deal. My side kick Graham Zebedee was involved with all the talks with Gary along with Terry. Gary insisted on just 75 "numbered" pieces in an "Almond burst" color. Heritage made the 1'st 75 in Amber, which made Gary more angry than he usually is. H's Japanese distr. ordered 40, Terry wanted 25 & so they sold out immediately. Heritage went back to Gary, kissed & made up, promised Almond Burst this time & got his OK for 75 more. So, there are 75 in Amber (1'st group) and 75 in Almond burst. To be correct they should come with a Certificate of Authen. (which Terry had made), GM's sig. screened on the peghead in red, EMG's, & a matching Maple guard. I now have one choice, near mint example of each color & will send photos on request. Jay Wolfe
squawken Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Hey Everyone I believe this particular guitar may be the one time where it is more eceonomical to buy the G word. I researched completed listings on e-bay and the G word Gary Moore goes for about $2,000 less than the Heritage. I'm guessing the reasoning may in the numbers. I don't know how many G put out, but I would guess more than heritage, therefore not as rare?
