Tone Pros part number?

True Gibson Nashville bridges have larger posts/bushings and a wider body than an ABR-1.

"Nashville Style" bridges have smaller posts/bushings and a wider body. Think Schaller GTM.

Gibson ABR-1 bridges use even smaller posts which screw directly into the body with no bushing.

Beware of the difference between Nashville and "Nashville Style" bridges

The posts may be either metric or English depending on the manufacturer.

The 157 like like the 150 uses a "Nashville Style" bridge with M5 posts like the TonePros TP-6

That is normally the best way to do it. The tone gets right into the body.

By the way. I changed from a Schaller bridge and tailipiece to a Duesenberg tailpece and a Faber Bridge with titanium saddles. That's really an upgrate. Tone is even better than it was before. Sustain goes forever ( I'm talking about my H 150).

Nearly the same good result when I changed from Schaller to Duesenberg bridge and tailpiece on my 555,

I second that... Faber makes a post that's fat on the bottom which screw into the Nashville style plug hole. It tapers off the top to Nashville size so you can put a tone pro or what ever on it. Ren installed this when they built my Prospect. No zinc, no bushings and stronger.

An after market company (Brown's guitar factory) makes steel posts that screw into a Nashville anchor and taper on top so you can install an ABR-1.

Can somebody make a list of the various manufacturer part numbers/models and which guitars they go on (assuming they only fit specific models)? Maybe we could get it down to a table/matrix, and then get it pinned, as this seems to come up semi-regularly and it would be good info to have handy.

That's a great idea, Dick. It took me a lot of research and "trial and error", to find the right parts for my Heritage's. To have a list like you proposed would be a great help!!

Hi,

just got myself an '02 H-535 to partner my H-516 and I'm wondering whether this list/table ever happened? If not, could someone confirm whether Heritage's use metric or Imperial thread sizes and which would be the best bridge/tailpiece set to put on my particular 535?

Pics when I take delivery of the guitar (bit of lacquer touch up required at guitar shop!)

regards,

H - They use Imperial threads. You will get some discussion on the best bridge/tailpiece sets. Depends on how the strings break off the bridge and how high you like the tailpiece off the top. If the strings clear and you can intonate ABR-1 vs the stronger design of the Nashville. Then you have the anchor system of the Nashville vs SS studs screwed directly into the wood.

Several ways to go.

I like the Faber hardware. I've got the tailpiece locking system, and it's great!

I'm going for the bridge locking system next. It's nice to change strings and clean, etc, without the hardware falling off and causing the inevitable ding.

Thanks Spectrum13,

I'm definitely going to replace the Schaller roller bridge for the sustain issues mentioned in previous threads including this. I just think the Schaller tailpiece looks ugly and that's why I'll replace that.

I'll probably go Faber as I have a set of those on my LP. If we're talking imperial measurements who knows the part number I should be getting for a nickel finish bridge/tailpiece set?

Very nice 535 by the way  I'm not normally one for gold hardware but the finish on yours sets it off beautifully :o

Thanks H, It's a Prospect and had chrome Faber bridgeposts and tailpiece from the factory. I don't like gold either but OCD made me change it out for that old style burst finish. Don't know the part number for Faber in UK, I ordered from CVGuitars - Larry Corsa in the USA appears to be the distributer here.

After a small chat with Heritage and a long chat with TonePros and Marquis Distribution I have my answer - for an H-535 at least:

the TonePros part number for a locking, pre-grooved bridge/locking tailpiece, in nickel finish with matching posts/studs for direct retrofit is LPNM04 (ungrooved is LPNS02).

If you like chrome parts, change the 'N' in the part number for a 'C'.

I've got mine in the post already :D

I've got mine in the post already :)

And now they're fitted - very easy to do and looks great :) Minor improvement in tone but definitely better sustain across all strings. Pics of before and after are in my gallery - apologies as they're just from a camera phone at present, better quality pics coming soon :)

I've got a set of TonePros Kluson cream tulip tuners in the post now - more pics when they are on.
