Kazwell Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 I truly enjoy participating in what is perhaps one of the best forums of it's type on the net and have learned a lot here from others who love guitars and music as much as I do. One indivdual who inspired me to play is Carlos Santana. I find it hard to believe it was 30 Christmas' ago that I received the Moonflower album which is still one of my all time favorites. Of all the great music on the album which is mix of both live and studio cuts, my favorite track is a version he did live of the instrumental "Europa" (which I discovered years later is a rock version of the jazz classic "Autumn Leaves" -at least as far as the chord progression goes). He played a solid body Yamaha FG-2000 on the track as well as most of the album. Evidently, even back then, Carlos became disillusioned at the lack of quality of the new G words at the time. So thirty years after hearing this, I recorded a version of Europa playing a Heritage H-150 CM with Seth Lover pickups along with a well performed backing track. Incidently, the link goes to a pretty neat site where you can upload your MP3's for sharing. No registration is required and there doesn't appear to be any annoying popups. When you get to the page, all you have to do is hit the "play" button and the song will load and start. Enjoy. http://boomp3.com/m/525077bcf8f8

yoslate Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 I'd like to thank everyone on the forum as well for the give and take, the expertise, the humor, the willingness to share, all those things which should be more a part of all the "communities" to which we belong. The forum has been enlightening and fun for me, as I've never done anything such as this before, and I have all of you to thank for that! Happy holidays and best to all in the new year; I hope you get the chance to share your music as often as possible! slate 8)

jacques Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all from over the mighty ocean from me too. Great thing about this forum is people stay decent. MUST be because of the guitars we're playing. ;D
Dick Seacup Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Wishing all of you the happiest of holiday's and hope for a healthy, happy and prosperous new year. If you're traveling, may your trip be safe and your delays be short and few. And in the words of my Irish ancestors, "May peace and plenty be the first to lift the latch on your door, and happiness be guided to your home by the candle of Christmas."
AnH555 Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Same here. It's good to know that if I'm thinking about getting a 137 or a Sweet 16 I can talk to people who own them. The photos and links to various sites are impressive. Even a field trip to Wolfe guitars. And I'm still chuckling over somebody's french! Best to all as the adventure continues.
JohnCovach Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 This is really a great forum; I love it here! Happy Holidays to all of you!

I'm not afraid to ask questions, even if they seem stupid. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!!
Kazwell Posted December 23, 2007 Author Posted December 23, 2007 That is a nice tune. Have you ever heard his duet with Gato Barbieri doing "Latin Lady"? No I haven't, but I am going to check it out. Quite frankly, I stopped following his music after the early 80's when he seemed to go more commercial. However, I know he also made a lot of great music as well since that time. One thing is for sure when it comes to music in general. You can never hear it all, which is a good thing since it means there is always something new out there for someone to discover, no matter how long ago it came out.
Gitfiddler Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Merry Christmas and a Happy & Prosperous New Year to all of my friends here. You all make this a great place to hang out, learn, share and laugh. Everyone stay safe over the holidays. Tim

GuitArtMan Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
High Flying Bird Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Righteous tone Kaz! I too, would like to wish everybody a happy holiday. It is great to be able to share our love / knowledge of these fabulous guitars together. I hate Christmas music. It makes me depressed for some reason but this year something has happened to me. I have spent the last week learning jazz guitar versions of a couple of Christmas songs. I played so much this last week I have worn new holes in my finger tips and they feel like they have bruises on them too. I am able to hide some of my lack of musical talent with the sweet tone I am getting from Heritage guitars. Merry Christmas!
Kuz Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Merry Christmas to everyone and may the Lord bless you with a safe and healthy Holiday season. This forum is my favorite. Everyone is so nice here. The P** forum could learn a lot from you guys about humility, integrity, and respect for your fellow man. Merry Christmas & Happy New!
Blues_N_Rock Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Happy holidays folks I wish you all a great and blessful new year. May 2008 bless you with many happy hours of playing your Heritage guitar. I know I will have a blast with my 535.
skydog Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Kaz: Eric Clapton was quoted once as saying that it's not always the notes, sometimes it's the space between the notes that counts. I think he said that after hearing you play. That was awesome!
Kazwell Posted December 24, 2007 Author Posted December 24, 2007 Thanks skydog!! It has taken me quite a few years to start to grasp the concept of "the space between the notes". I guess it's about getting in better touch with that part of yourself that keeps reminding you "don't rush it, sit back and enjoy the ride". And it also doesn't hurt if your playing on an outstanding guitar to help you step back and savor the tone of each and every note you produce.
Dick Seacup Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Wow, I just listened to your Europa tune. Great playing! Am I the only one who thinks Europa sounds a lot like Parisienne Walkways, though? (That's not a comment on your playing, just a general observation)
Kazwell Posted December 25, 2007 Author Posted December 25, 2007 Dick Seacup, I just watched the Gary Moore video, Parisienne Walkways. I would say thats a pretty accurate observation. As I said, Eupora is basically Autumn Leaves. I have to give credit to Carlos Santana who's version I tried to stay as close to as possible. Mainly I posted it as a tribute to those memories of the past and a testament to the timeless power of music and the influence it/he had on me. It was my pleasure to share that track and my musical walk down memory lane with the folks in this forum.
VJonathan Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! May you all be one (or two) Heritage richer in 2008!
