Can you crank up the volume with a 525?

525 owners, can the 525 be taken to '11'? Could it handle a fuzz pedal, volume cranked in a three piece situation without howling feedback?

I want to outfit a guitar with p90's and am considering either a 525 or another 535 so thoughts/feedback appreciated.

I throw a lot of gain at my 525 and the feedback is really not that bad...this is in a basement environment though....not really able to push the volume.  I have, when nobody is home, cranked it a lot and as long as i am not facing the amp, and am about 15-20 ft away, it is a-ok.

I've got an ES-137, which I believe is similar to the 525; I don't get any feedback.

i think if it had hummbuckers the feedback would MUCH worse

Mine's got buckers in it. No problems so far...

no kidding...when i had that '64 Byrdland...the feedback was [glow=red,2,300]HORRIBLE[/glow]!!!!

...I crank mine every chance possible.  No feedback issues at all.  The 525 is one of  Heritage's finest!    That said, keep in mind it is a completely different beast from the 535.

Can you elaborate on the 'different beast' description? What type of music do you feel the 525 is best suited for?

Well as I own both...

The 525 can handle a surprising amount of gain & volume, BUT

a fuzz pedal is better suited to the 535 with p-90s.

525 = straight up jazz, old school chicago blues

535 p-90 = rock, blues, jazz/fusion. what ever a 535 can do but better (cause it's got p-90s)

(that said I can't imagine getting rid of either).

The 525 just made the newest posting on Ren's picture list so it should be listed as a model in the future.

What amps are you guys using that like working with the P90's? Mine kind of likes a Ac15 sound when clean or dirty but needs to be loud with El 34, 7591s not so good. I have a 6V6 coming based on sound clips.

It's like an H575, but it's thinner. I also think the top is laminated.

The 137 is a semi hollow, correct?

Yes--but I'm referring to a G-word ES-137, and not the Heritage H137.

Are they solid or laminated tops?

Thank you for the GAS Gentlemen.

Yeah I know. My under standing is that the 525 is a hollow body while the Gibby is a semi hollow. I would expect less feedback issues with a semi hollow.

How do you like the G 137? Might be another option to look into (runs out of the forum before others start lobbing tomatoes!).

That's just what I was wondering. Thanks Kuz.

I like it, but I hardly ever play it--it still looks new! I guess I'm more of a "solid-body" type of guitar slinger.

Brentrocks, that is one good looking H-525, is the top on your H-525 a standard one, or did you opt for the flamier version, with the upcharge?
