skydog Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 I can't find out much info on the Schaller pups that Heritage would have used in my H-157. Does anyone know much about the construction/materials of these?
tulk1 Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Well, assuming they are actually Schaller Golden '50s, I found this on the Schaller web site. Not much there, tho'. A specially designed and manufactured Alnico magnet is at the heart of this pickup. The result is very fast and sensitive response to string vibrations and a warm, full sound. The sound of the Bolden 50 humbucker accurately reproduces that of late 1950s Humbuckers. To compensate for the volume difference between the neck and bridge pickups, the neck version has a resistance of 7.4 kOhm and the bridge version 8.2 kOhm. Available in cream and black.
skydog Posted April 7, 2009 Author Posted April 7, 2009 Thanks, tulk. Is there a pretty good chance that they are Golden 50's? Any distinguishing marks?

barrymclark Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 How best to determine the Schaller type that is in the H140 I am picking up from Michael James?
skydog Posted April 8, 2009 Author Posted April 8, 2009 I contacted Schaller w/ these questions and got a most amusing email in return. Schaller won't discuss their pickups at all because it is a matter of industrial proprietary! What a hoot. I explained to them that anyone bent on copying their pickups can disect a pair and copy them. I was merely curious! A door lock only keeps out an honest man. If I was intent on copying a pickup, it most assuredly wouldn't be a Schaller.
