paul144 Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Really nice store, nice helpful staff. I walk over to a crazy selection of Gibbons, all high end custom shop VOS, 58 RI, Murphy aged, blah blah...nothing under $5000. Most had really pale, dry rosewood fingerboards. Some were light, some were average, I'd say 8.5-9 lbs. I did notice that the stop tails were all the way down on most of them, and the strings had plenty of clearance over the back of the bridge, unlike my 150s... Otherwise I gotta say, they had nothing on my H150s, and I would be absolutely freaked to take one to a gig. Who's buying these things anyway, Cardiologists & Brain Surgeons?? Famous defense attorneys? I guess theirs a seat for every ass, but I'm not dropping my pants for one of these. Give me a $750 used Heritage any day, lol... So I put my heavier H150 on a diet. Gave her an aluminum bridge, and Grover Deluxe 135N Vintage 14:1 tuners instead of the Grovers. She lost almost 6 ounces! Started out at 9 lbs 10.5 oz, now weighs 9 lbs 5 oz. I know its about the weight of a ham sandwich, but it feels like it made a difference!

I am seeing less and less sub-grand used prices. I say that having just gotten into a deal on one myself... but that is why I was all over it. I haven't seen that really lately.
paul144 Posted April 8, 2009 Author Posted April 8, 2009 Yeah, I got a once in a lifetime deal on a factory 2nd a few weeks ago off Craigslist. Haven't seen any under $1k. I paid in the $1k ballpark for my Goldtop. I'm still drooling, but only out of the left side of my mouth now. http://pic90.picturetrail.com/VOL2142/2292445/19281588/356879010.jpg[/img] http://pic90.picturetrail.com/VOL2142/2292445/19281588/351792187.jpg[/img]
