Mikenov Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 That says it all. I played a rocker 30 the other day and found it could pretty much do anything I wanted it to do but with a very distinct crunch. The dirty channel could dial in a edgy clean to a awesome full on AC/DC style crunch. I really dug that amp. Anyone have any experience with it?
Gitfiddler Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Sorry, Mikenov, I do not have any personal experience using Orange amps, but 'the artist formerly known as prince' uses a wall of them for his live performances.
slider313 Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Not with the Rocker 30 but a friend just picked up a Rockerverb 50 combo with 2X12" Vintage 30's. It's a nice big punchy sound with a bit of "hair" on the clean channel. The transformers are big so the sound is strong and percussive. I didn't care for the overdrive channel but could easily use the clean setting with my favorite pedals.
Jazzpunk Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I owned an Orange Rockerverb 50 head with an Orange 2x12 open back cab. It was a great rig for rockin' out but I never really bonded with the clean channel. It just didn't have any sparkle or 'wow factor' in conjunction with my 535 (main ax right now). That said, the dirty channel on that amp is one of my all time favs and I still miss it!
tulk1 Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Agreed on the dirty channel. Agreed on the clean - not much wow factor. Plus, they are heavy as all get out. There are decent amps around that don't weigh quite what those do.
