Kuz Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 they may use the custom shop decals on everything now? just because of the nature of their operation, all hand made, small, intimate shop with a small amount of employees. everything that comes out of there is a custom piece. I'm not so sure about this. Ren has said before it needs to be a special order for a "Custom shop" sticker. We will have to clear this up at PSP2.
Kuz Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Why do you think it was designated "Custom Shop"? Premium wood upgrade package alone would designate it a "Custom Shop" guitar. Plus the bound headstock & "Special 35"... definately a "custom shop" designation. But like Brent said wether the sticker reads "Custom Shop" or not, they are all made the same way with the same guys. 8)
Hfan Posted April 26, 2009 Author Posted April 26, 2009 I believe that Jay Wolfe had ordered a number of these "35 Specials" in 2004 (ser# starts with u) with these options. According to a long time member here (who recently sold an identical model), it is the same as the 30th anniversary model without the 30th aniversary logo. I forgot to mention that it also has a bone nut and binding on the headstock. I love this guitar. It reminds me of a 60's 335 G.... that I played a few times in the pre historic days. I put new strings on it last night and it really came to life. I now see why lots of you guys/gals? love this model. It has a very minor buzz on the 12 fret high E, the frets may need a polish or dress, I don't know if it was pleked or not . The original owner left it as is after he purchased it. Any recomendations for a good guitar tech in central NJ? My old guy started his own guitar line and no longer does his own repairs. Thanks again for the congrats, I will take good care of her. ;D Pete
emilio Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 If by central NJ you include Ocean county, try hooking up with the Guitar Guy in Toms River. Paul is pretty busy with his own line of guitars these days, so call first, think the number is 732-286-2333
Spectrum13 Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Very nice 535 you got there. Classic looks with the pickguard and blond flames.
smurph1 Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Seeing that Beauty makes me want to play "Stormy Monday!" LOL

I wrote Ren when I got my H157 and it had the CS sticker. Me: Just picked up an H157. What a great guitar. I notice it has a custom shop decal. Do you use the custom shop sticker on all your guitars? Ren: No. Enjoy the guitar. That was it. 8)
