brentrocks Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 i think i might get this??? http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/member-cla...-combo-amp.html
mars_hall Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 I have liked every Rivera designed amp I have ever heard
111518 Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 I agree. I have two: the "Chris Duarte," which is a Blonde M100 with a 15" EV, and a Pubster 25. I have a few minor quibbles with the design of each (there should be a volume pot for the ninja boost, for ex., and if the architecture of the pubster is one channel plus boost, it seems the one channel would be clean instead of high gain), but in my experience they are very solid, very good sounding amps.
brentrocks Posted April 28, 2009 Author Posted April 28, 2009 thanks for your input guys!!!! the thing i'm worried about is selling my current amp and cab...if i knew i could move them, it would make my decision a lot easier
mars_hall Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Keep the Boogafunk (EVM12L?), sell the head. Admittedly, you may have a problem moving the head. That said, looks like a R55 sold for $650 on the bay recently. That means the guy's price may still be a little high. This one is purdy, but let it slide.
Gitfiddler Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Brent, that is a great amp and the price is about right. But with your negotiating skills, you should be able to get it for a bit less. The guy already dropped his price. Good luck.

JeffB Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Awesome. Have fun with it. Nothing beats getting a new amp. Except getting another one. Funny if you developed an amp buying/selling habit.
brentrocks Posted May 3, 2009 Author Posted May 3, 2009 those are too tough to ship...i doubt it...LOL
gopeteygo Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I'd have to agree with mars_hall. That Boogafunk and EVM is a keeper. One of the best speakers ever! You would miss it.

You would miss it. i will prob wait for the Rivera to show up and play it side by side w/ the Boogafunk....if the Rivera does it for me, i prob wont keep both. if i was gigging i would keep it, but i can always get another Boogafunk....they make them everyday you know what though, i think i would be able to run that Boogafunk off the Rivera, kinda like a 2x12, insted if a 1x12??? is that true? i'm electronically challenged

mars_hall Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 What's the ohm rating of the EVM and the ohm rating of the Celestion in the Rivera and is there a speaker jack in the back of the Rivera? EVM12L 8 ohms Can't speak for the Celestion
gopeteygo Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 It looks like you can plug in whatever you want. I don't see an adjustable ohm selector so the transformers appear to be more like Fenders in that they'll take it, rather than Marshalls that will blow on a mismatch.
brentrocks Posted May 4, 2009 Author Posted May 4, 2009 my peavey head sold on ebay...so that is a good thing
gopeteygo Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 my peavey head sold on ebay...so that is a good thing cool...are you keeping the cab and speaker?
brentrocks Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 cool...are you keeping the cab and speaker? if it doesnt sell on ebay, i'll take it as a sign
CJTopes Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I have a Rivera Chubster that I just love. best amp I've ever owned!
brentrocks Posted May 6, 2009 Author Posted May 6, 2009 the Boogafunk sold today....but the Rivera is coming Thurs!!!!! i see a major jam session w/ the new amp in my future
fxdx99 Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 That Rivera looks like a nice amp. I'm betting you'll be very pleased w/the transition from Peavey/BF to it. 2 channels each w/eq, lotsa gain combos, el34s... what's not to like Looking forward to you tone report.
Mikenov Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Nice score buddy. Big upgrade for you. Can't wait to hear it in a couple of months!
brentrocks Posted May 7, 2009 Author Posted May 7, 2009 The Rivera M55 showed up today. it is in mint condition! it has been a long time since i have had a tube amp...and i have to say, tube does sound better! the tone is richer and fatter. this amp has a lot of bells and whistles for a small combo....2 channels w/ pre and post gain and boost + bass/mid/treb. FX loop, channel 2 has a push/pull for nothch and bright. it also has presence and reverb. it has the original Celestion 12" it can get really dirty w/ out pedals, i like that I am very impressed w/ the versitiliy of this amp....and it sounds great too!!!
