Bad GAS

I've got GAS going pretty strong. So far this year I've purchased a (please don't laugh or cry) Gib$on ES-137, an Epiphone Slash LP Goldtop, a Peavey Classic 30, ordered a H-575 Custom and just a bit ago I won a Univox Coily on eBay. The main reason for the Univox purchase was that my very first guitar, about 37 years ago, was a Coily. It was a red one, so this one will have to do. I'll post some of my own pics once I get it.

Next will hopefully be a Heritage 150. Still awaiting my H-575 from K-Zoo.

You have some nice stuff there. You're gonna love the 575! I really love my 150. It's by far my favorite guitar. I like the Unvox coily. looks really cool.

My first electric guitar was a Univox Les Paul type with a bolt-on neck, about 1970.

Previous to that I played acoustic (an old Gibson J-45). I had no idea my Univox was a copy of a Gibson LP until I saw one in a pawn shop. I just thought it was comfy to play and had action like power steering compared to an acoustic.

What is the Custom feature on your incoming H-575?

I had a H-550 Custom that was thinner in the body. The ebony fretboard may not have been standard either. Can't remember.

I LOVE the HRW pickups on my '07 H-575! Was playing it today in fact at home, and managed to get my amp rig clean and snappy. I could not be happier with an L-5 Gibson (had one, briefly). What a great guitar the H-575 is with HRW's!

Previous to today I had always used a honkier more midrangey Charlie Christian type tone with my rig. Y'know: Bluesy jazz!

But today I managed to dial out more midrange than usual and got a smoky sophisticated tone that reminded me of an L-5.

Very cool.

Similar story to my Univox Coily 335 clone. I was 7 when my dad got it for me. I had no clue what an ES-335 even was. Sold it in 1980 for $80, same amount my Dad had got it for in 1971. Never should have sold it. I found a mint red one on eBay identical to the one in my profile pic, but it's going for $600. Too rich for me!

Sounds like you are getting some great tones out of your 575. I can't wait to hear mine!!!

As for the custom options, here's a list:

Binding for body, pick guard, and head. Also, Binding on the F Holes

Binding for Body, as per Ren, the wider strip will be a light cream color, then white, black, white, black

Multi 5 Piece Neck with Maple and Mahogany

Fret Board: Ebony with Split Block Mother of Pearl Inlay

Oooooh, that's going to be sweet! Sounds like a dual p'up, standard scale, Sweet 16!

Very nice, sweet indeed!

In my experience spruce tops can be brighter than the solid maple on H-575's, except with the HRW's yesterday I dialed in a tone that was like an L5! Usually I go for a more midrangey Bluesy horn-like honk. This was lush and sophisticated.

I'm convinced that with HRW's the H-575 is the most versatile and best sounding archtop I've ever had. I had one years ago before HRW's, and that guitar could get the midrange honk like my '07 version, but could not get that more sophisticated L5 tone.

Gentlemen, I'm convinced: the H-575 as currently offered by Heritage is the best archtop electric on the planet. It can do everything. Right now I've got it out mowing my lawn!

Such a great mission.

Man..UNIVOX..Takes me back to the Nixon Administration!! I never had one, but had a Teisco..Thought it was great until I played an old Strat..That started my long winding journey that lead me to Heritage..(Kinda sounds like a Beatles lyric)..I knew several people who played Univox guitars..(and the Blue Naudahyde Kustom Amps!!) I thought the Kustoms were cool, but TOO FREAKIN LOUD!! Especially down the basement..
