Blooze Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Hey folks, 1st time poster here..........................referred by Gopeteygo after I purchased His H137 ( a fine little p90 beast). I've been around on other boards (McInturff, TGP, LP Forum, TGDP) under the name Brudr. Ayway, I see this H535 with dogear Lollar P90's on the Heritage site, but can't seem to find them on any dealer pages. Are these out yet? Anyone put hands on one? That guitar would be outrageous IMHP.
skydog Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Welcome to both the HOC and the Heritage family! That 137 you bought is one fine guitar. I'm surprised that a 535 is offered w/ P-90's as it's based on G's 335 which, along w/ HB's, premiered in 1958. Whereas the early LP's came first with P-90's, this obviously wasn't the case with the semi-hollow 335. Not that it wouldn't work, but it's a new trend, not a reissue thing.

They don't exist. They don't sound UNBELIEVABLE!!! Oh, Yea, and I don't have the first production one ever made!!!!!
Gitfiddler Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Welcome to the HOC, Blooze! Your dream semi-hollow guitar has already been made. As you can see, Kuz has the very first one of these fine instruments. Yea baby, that gitfiddle is so sexy, it could cure Methuselah's erectile dysfunction.

So where's #2? And am I to assume this is its hollow body cousin?
Kuz Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Kuz - that is one killer guitar! WOW! WOW! Thanks, it is a special guitar with a special story that I will rehash at another time.
yoslate Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Thanks, it is a special guitar with a special story that I will rehash at another time. I get heart palpitations every time John posts a picture of that 535!!! An utterly gorgeous instrument!!!

Spectrum13 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Hello and welcome to the club! I was so taken by my 137 and the P90 sound that I too had the same idea as Kuz but about one inch smaller. The 2nd P90 instrument shot is of a 330 style which actually existed in the late 1950's and is a brand new Heritage model which no HOC member (to my knowledge) has at this time. It's a thin hollow not a semi. My guess is the new humbuckers were featured on the 1957-58 models that when the 335, 345 and 355s first appeared they had to have the top-o-the line pups and the economy 330s got the P90s. 50 years later a few of us got the idea a P90 semi would make a great guitar and Kuz was the first to put his money down and Kzoo corrected a marketing mistake from the past. Now that I have mine for two weeks I know why some people post a shot whenever the opportinity presents itself. They are unbelieviable great!

We have the special "P-90 & Bones" secret society with the agenda of taking over the world (with tone)! Great job on getting that one. Did you order her or did you buy her from dealer stock? And that is a 530 right? In "P-90 oneness and solidarity", John

Blooze Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 Thanks for the Welcome everyone. No doubt the semi-hollow with P90's is a fairly new phenom. "G" did make a custom shop run of 335's recently with dog ear p90's. Their Es 135/137's of the 90's were also in that ballpark. I'm just tickled to death that Heritage has finally embraced the P90 across a wide range of instruments. As I'm not much of a humbucker tone fan, there wasn't much in the Heritage line-up that really appealed to me in the past. I was always impressed with the build quality, but yearned for the p90 tone. I'm also impressed that they went out used one of the finest versions of the p90 currently made (Loller) to put into their design (no offense to Lindy Fralin's fine version). Hopefully we'll see more of the P90 535's and 530's available. I've come close to pulling the trigger on Japanese made Casino's several times over the past year, but wouldn't dare if I thought there was a Heritage alternative.
Scooter Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Blooze, welcome to the HOC. I have been looking into the H535 with P-90s, as well. I spoke with Graham at Wolfe Guitars a couple of minutes ago and he said they just received one TODAY and he was quite ga-ga over this guitar. It is not a semi hollowbody, but a hollowbody. He said Heritage will be making both the hollow body and the semi hollow-body versions. They are going to post it on their site in about an hour, Graham said, and they will have a youtube demo available tomorrow (Thursday) at around lunchtime. He said it's as light as a feather and the tone is to die for; very sensitive to the touch. He doesn't know when they will be getting more, but they will eventually. The Wolfe Guitars site is: www.wolfeguitars.com Here is a link to one of the wolfe guitar demos, then just click on the "more from: wolfegtrs" option and you'll get a boatload of demos arranged in chronological order of their posting----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsuZ4NYFU04 Oh, and those 137s are sweet . How do you like yours and what are you playing through? Scooter

How do you like yours and what are you playing through? Scooter Thanks for heads up , Scooter. I'll certainly check that one out (sounds like the H530). I'm lovin the H137. When I found out it was only 7.3 lbs, I had to jump on it. Its getting hard to find slab body Mahogany guitars under 8lbs anymore. This one plays through a twee Blues Jr at home and an Allen Encore (2x12) in the band room.
jerrysleftyguitars Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Don't forget the leftys! Chestnut Burst Prospect Custom with Lollars Antique Natural 535 with Lollars I've been thinking about finding chrome covers for the P90s for these guitars, especially the 535 to give it more of the Casino look. I ask Lane to look into offering the chrome covers as an option. Jason Lollar does not offer it with his pickups. Any opinions on the chrome covers?
yoslate Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Don't forget the leftys! Chestnut Burst Prospect Custom with Lollars Antique Natural 535 with Lollars Any opinions on the chrome covers? You asked: NEVER liked them at all! Let several otherwise nice 330's go because I always thought the chrome covers looked like cheap light-gauge stamped metal. The black covers have always reminded me of heavier Bakelite, rather than plastic. I've always thought the black covers look better and serve to contrast with and highlight nice finishes...and does Heritage do some nice finishes! All you have to do is take one look at Kuz's 535...or your 535 or prospect, for that matter. Just great looking guitars!
fxdx99 Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I'm in 'slate's camp on this one - not a fan of the chrome covers. I have seen some nice guitars w/the white covers, tho, maybe that would be an option to offer. btw, Jerry - nice ad in VG mag. Hope business is doing well during these down times.
SouthpawGuy Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 One thing I have noticed is that my metabolism kills chrome / nickel covers. Black or cream would be so much easier to keep looking sharp. Great guitars by the way Jerry.
gopeteygo Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Hey Blooze! Glad to see you made it and your 137 is still in the family. Looks like you've made some quick friends already. Welcome aboard!
