chachi83 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Im interested in purchasing a Heritage guitar (actually thrilled to be purchasing a Heritage Guitar) I am interested in two models: H-157, and H-150cm Ultra. There is one problem ! While searching the web I came across a guitar that I fell in love with. It was a Heritage H-157cm with a (classic original sun burst) it was like a brownish burst and it was amazing. Problem!!!!!! The guitar was being sold in australia online at this site and I live in Buffalo so that particular guitar is out of the question. They no longer make this model, but I heard they would let you customize a guitar color. So...... Is this true ? and will it cost me extra ? and Last of all which is a better guitar: the H-150cm ultra, or H-157. It should be noted that I cant test one because the nearest dealer is 400 miles away.
Dick Seacup Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 The factory isn't making H-157s any longer? Who told you that? Wolfe has a few: check these out Welcome to the Club! EDIT: If you can't find one from a dealer in the US in the color you want, yes, you can order one in any of the factory finishes.
Hfan Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Speaking of 157's , Skydog has a nice one listed in the For Sale section.(do I get a comission)? I'm tempted but I've bought two Heritages used in the last few months, I would wind up a statistic ... death by wife
shook494 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 157's are everywhere. You can get them in all kinds of finishes. Good luck.
pro-fusion Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Last of all which is a better guitar: the H-150cm ultra, or H-157. It isn't really a question of which is better. Functionally, they're pretty much the same. The only non-cosmetic difference is that the Ultra (usually) has a rosewood fretboard, while the 157 has ebony. This changes the tone a little bit, with the 157 being slightly brighter and "snappier" sounding. However, you can get a Heritage custom-made with all sorts of options, including an Ultra with an ebony fretboard (an example of which I've played), and all manner of different pickups. So, mostly, it comes down which guitar you think is better-looking.
Kuz Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 It's got to be rosewood for me. I love the "bluesy/jazzy" warmth of rosewood, so 150 only for me. Good luck.
barrymclark Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 So, mostly, it comes down which guitar you think is better-looking. Mine is! I am pretty positive they still make the 157. I would be VERY bummed if they stopped.
