ScaryWoody Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I have been reading on other forums about wrapping the strings around the tailpiece. It is supposed to improve tone and eliminate string breakage. Jimmy Page, Billy Gibbons, etc. use this method. Just wondering if anyone here does that on their Heritages. I have a H150P.

backline Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Couldn't do it on my H-140 with the big ol' Schaller tailpiece, but did it all the time with my Les Pauls. I think it started because with an ABR-1 bridge, if you screw down the tailpiece it put so much downforce on the bridge they'd collapse and you had to re-arc them. Later, they beefed up the Nashville bridge so it wasn't a problem with those. I like the top wrap so I can srew the tailpiece down tight for sustain without crushing an ABR-1. Plus the strings make a comfy palm rest for my pickin' hand.
