Bluesdawg Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Here is an example... 555 inlays and binding with mahogany neck & rosewood fretboard (I prefer the warmth of Rosewood over Ebony) Now that's a nice axe, WOW
Kuz Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Now that's a nice axe, WOW Thanks. And it sounds incredible!
Wolfi Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 Ive played 335 style guitars with rosewood but not many ebony and never in a side by side comparison. Im supposing the ebony to be snappier and a bit brighter and with a little less sizzle. Will you still get those smokey tones with the ebony? Hi Tully, I own a 535 and a 555. I agree with you, the 555 sounds brighter. If you want to compare a 535 and 555, it's a bit as if you would play a maple strat or a strat with a rosewood neck. The 535 has that certain growl, the 555 normally doesn't have. After I changed pups in my 555 from Schallers the Seth Lovers, I gained more warmth for my 555. But she still doesn't have that growl. Smokey tones with a 555, I would say yes, but less smokier than the 535. I wouild say the 555 sounds in an way a bit Les Pauilier. Anway both guitars are great guitars. Greez Wolfi
Kuz Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 Here's my quick & dirt comparison having owned both myself. Comparison goes (of course the Heritages don't sound like the compared guitar) -But if 555 is like a Tele -Then a 535 is like a Strat
