I use an aluminium tailpiece on my 150 and a titanium brdge. This caused more sustain and more tone. Last week I met a custom shop Gbrand LP player and after we compared our guitars, he had some doubts buying the right guitar:)
bolero Posted June 14, 2009 Author Posted June 14, 2009 titanium bridge??? didn't know you could get them....who makes it? thx!
pro-fusion Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Schaller makes a proper Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, and it fits right into the same studs that the roller bridge does. http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/gbridge...allergibson.htm Gotoh and other makers of TOM bridges use different threading on their bridge posts (as well as different stud spacing on some of them), so you'd have to replace the studs on them.

Paul P Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 On a slightly related note, has anyone figured out how to reverse a saddle in the Schaller Tune-o-matic bridge ? I see springs holding the screws in place but can't see an easy way of lifting the spring out of the way so the screw will fall out. I need to do this for intonation purposes, I need just a bit more travel and I'm hoping reversing the saddle will give me enough.
GuitArtMan Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I went with TonePros and it just dropped right in. The StewMac Gotoh stuff is good as well. I don't get it when people say they got more sustain out of the aluminum tail piece as that was not my experience at all. First the change was sublte, not nignt and day. Second, I felt the aluminum tail piece aceented the attack of the note and articualtion at the expense of a little sustain. The heavier pot metal (or whatever it is) tail piece had a little better sustain, with a smoother attack - almost like a soft compression. That's the difference in my experience.
