Scooter
Nice finds, SP and Tali. Greger's quite a player. Wasn't aware he did some albums. Have to check him out some more. Thanks for the itunes tip, Kuz.
Scooter
Just saw the clip of Gregor Hilden on the HS-535. What a great player! I loved the tone he got out of that HS-535 and old Fender blackface! But what are those three little tone switches all about? For jumping to single coil or split coil mode, I presume? Are those switches stock? (Is that what makes his an HS-535 instead of an H-535?) I loved the range of tones he pulled out. Is that a retrofit that I could have done to my recently-acquired stock H-535? (Without messing it up, I mean!) Would I need new pickups (mine are Duncan Seth Lovers) or is it just a wiring thing? Does Heritage or anyone make a conversion kit, by chance? Thanks, -Flat Hey, Flat! Just noticed this was your first post. Welcome to the HOC, man.
Kuz
As good as Gregor's playing is (and I do feel he is a fine player), his tone is where it's at. And funny enough, I feel his tone is better on his youtube posts than on his CDs! Here's my favorite. I love my 525!!!!!

He gets those funny little black pickups to really sing in the 525!! isn't bad, either. Altho' I like the clean, organic tone in the first one a bit better. Flat
Thanks for the welcome, Scooter! I've been lurking for a while. I've had an H575 for years and recently acquired an H535, which I am getting to love. And thanks to pegleg's post, I tracked down this information about what I now know is called the "D-VIP" switching set up. In case anyone else is interested, I found this stuff on the Heritage site about it. Unfortunately for me, it looks like it's best suited for HRW pickups, and I'm running Lovers at the moment. http://www.heritageguitar.com/Custom%20Features/D-VIP.htm -Flat

The 575 and 535 are sweeeeet. But then so are all Heritages. I do like the sound of the Seths in a 535, too. I'm hoping to pick up a 535 sometime soon. The 575s are exceptionally beautiful instruments. I'd like to get one just so I can look at it...and play it if I could stop looking at it. jhack
Good morning, I am new on this forum and I am not in possession of this type of guitar at the moment. It is Gregor's video which encouraged me to be interested in guitars heritage. I know mark for a long time but I have never had the chance to take after it one enters my hands. It seems that they are not too much distributed in France. Of more the oficiel site is not too much in day. What do you think of this Heritage Custom Shop H 535 23 th Anniversary Limited Edition, know you these characteristics and his difference in comparison with other one H 535 ? Thank you beforehand. GroovieGuitarGuus
I've the same model as shown in the Gregor Hilden You-tube. It's from (i think) '89 - serial nr. starts with a 'E'. The #1 miniswitch is 'single coil' - bridge The #2 is 'Phase' switch on - works only when bridge is in Humbucker mode The #3 is 'single coil' - neck - This one will works in combination of the 'Phase-mode' i mentioned The 'Pot' beside is the value of 'phase' - '0' makes the guitar sounds 'thin' and a bit like a 'Telecaster' - more to '10' made the 535 very 'funky'. The 'pots' under are Master 'tone' and Master 'Volume'
Flat
Thanks for the explanation, Groovie! And man, that's a luscious-looking 535! My 535 is an Old Style Burst with a black G-style pickguard, but I think the wood pickguard looks fantastic -- especially on the almond bursts! -Flat
LK155
Along the lines of....imitation is the sincerest form of....well, you know...... I had bookmarked this Gregor Hilden clip months ago, thinking I would eventually get back to it and try to figure out what he was playing. Well, that finally happened a couple of weeks ago. Played the clip over and over and over again until I got the chords he was using. Then played it over and over again trying to analyze his first few licks. What a challenge.....his phrasing and touch are something else. Needless to say, I very quickly reached the limit of my ability in this process. And much to my amazement, I discoverd that the licks I 'borrowed' didn't stray too far from minor pentatonic, so they're going to find a place in my (limited) arsenal of 'all-purpose-riffs-to-play-with-any-old-12-bar-blues-song'. He sounds just like I wish I could. Ain't gonna happen. So just to kill some time (it was raining that day, and we couldn't golf), I wanted to see if I could create my own little Gregor-inspired track, using his basic chords, and perhaps 3 of the 250 excellent licks he uses. And despite the fact that I had to settle for using a Millenium H-155 instead of a VIP 535, here's my feeble attempt.............. http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8206512 Always good to have goals, right? Now I need to learn the other 247 licks he played on that clip.

Kuz
Nice job Lyle. I will agree that Gregor has some tasty backgroud tracks. He is pretty good making his own with that looper pedal too.
