rjsanders
good question dude...i didnt see any the last time i was down to Parsons St. so, Perkinses bought a couple NAMM guitars @ the show, they were to be shipped immediately following the show. then something changed. i was all set to take my tv yellow 137 down there & compare and possibly trade (it'd have to be a d@#n good 137DC to match my 137)...but now i'm told the lil red one ended up @ another dealer's...and i don't see any others anywhere... ?? very mysterious
Dandownunder
my red 137 came from C.B. Perkins, but it's only got 1 cutaway. do I get half a prize?
SouthpawGuy
Photo of 137 and 137DC at NAMM One thing about the DC that I'm not to fond of is the loss of one of the tone controls, I suppose there is only a limited amount of room in the control cavity though. If the switching is setup like my 170 (less the coil taps), it's not really that big of a deal. I pretty much keep the bridge volume at 10 (with the coil split on; pot pulled out), the neck volume somewhere around 6 or 7 (pot pushed in; no coil split) and the tone between 6 and 8. I am not a knob-tweaker, though, and not terribly picky about what's coming out of the speaker (I mean, hey, if it's recognizable as a song, that's a win right there for me!). Lately with twin humbucker guitars I like to set the neck pickup tone control to almost off and the bridge pickup tone to full on or slightly off. I can then go from a full jazzy tone to a bright twangy tone with the in between position used for rhythm duties. With that configuration there is more of a contrast between the three positions on the selector switch. That's something you can't generally do on a Strat or Tele style guitar. Scooter
Sorry, I was going to post a question here about 137s but then realized that it is another subject altogether and didn't want to hijack this topic. I can't delete it so I'll just slap it on another topic. Carry on.
rjsanders
my red 137 came from C.B. Perkins, but it's only got 1 cutaway. do I get half a prize? nah, just get a dremel & do the other cutaway... now, if you had a dblcut & wanted sngl, that'd be more different

rjsanders
thats the one from pspII apparently not - just got this response from Bananas At Large: jeff, Thank you for the email. Yes this is the guitar that was announced at the NAMM show. It is an incredible instrument. Outstanding tone from the Lollar P-90's. The design combines traditional and modern elements. Let me know if you would like more information on pricing and availability. Steve Kwitek - steve.k@BananasMusic.com Bananas at Large so, either the PSPII one was on loan, or it's another one? i'd like to see others (esp. TV yellow or natural finish...)
