Doug Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 A great day. I finally pulled the trigger on this beauty.
zookroo1 Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Whoa, nice flame on that baby! Did you find it locally or was it an internet find?
zydecosoultrain Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Congratulations that one beautiful semi! What are the electronics?
Scooter Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 A great day, indeed! That's some fine flame on that guitar . Beautiful guitar, Doug. Congratulations and welcome to the HOC!
yoslate Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Really nice lumber, Doug! Marvelous figure in that top! Welcome to the fold. How about a little narrative? A little backstory. You have an appreciative audience here, so dish some detail!
Doug Posted July 9, 2009 Author Posted July 9, 2009 I'll post more pictures in the gallery or something...still a bit in shock. Bought it from a friend-of-a-friend here in Portage. The first owner really hardly played it since he got it from the factory in 2002. HRW pickups, Antique Natural with Double VIP set-up. When I first went to look at it a few weeks ago he still had on the original strings from the factory.
fxdx99 Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Nice! That looks like a keeper - cool story, too. Original strings?!?!! Wow - guess it hadn't been played much at all, eh? Enjoy.
mars_hall Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I'll post more pictures in the gallery or something...still a bit in shock. Great guitar and glad you got your deal. Be sure to include some diffused natural lighting and angled shots. These bring out the natural beauty of a guitar. Relaxed simple shots without cluttered backgrounds are probably the most appreciated by the troops here.
Gitfiddler Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Great find, Doug! Always wanted to check out that DVIP system. How about a tone report/review after your honeymoon?
Doug Posted July 9, 2009 Author Posted July 9, 2009 I am going to have to read up on all the different settings for the DVIP...not sure about where to have the toggle switches for what kind of sound. That will be part of the honeymoon, dialing in the different tonal possibilities. Definitely planning on the PSP II - should be able to glean some advice from the experts there.
mars_hall Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I really like the contrast of that neck to the back
Doug Posted July 9, 2009 Author Posted July 9, 2009 Creme colored binding, rosewood fretboard, mahogany neck, flamed maple top, back and sides. I believe that is correct.
fxdx99 Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Hey, glad you'll be making it to PSPII. Looking forward to seeing that axe in person - haven't ever seen or heard the DVIP, so that'll be interesting.
ronalr Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 That is one great looking 535...congratulations on a sweet axe.
Millennium Maestro Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 WHAT TOOK YOU SOOOOOO. LONG. Warning: This is how it all starts... Enjoy Bro. M.M.
Doug Posted July 10, 2009 Author Posted July 10, 2009 Just posted some photos to the members gallery I took in the front yard. This is one beautiful guitar.
