Humbuster Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Hello everyone, I am new to this forum, but not new to Heritage guitars. In 1998, I purchased a new 535 which was a fantastic guitar. Unfortunately I sold her a few years later. I love semi-hollowbody guitars, however I feel they are the most inconsistent guitars made (from any manufacturer) and finding a good one (new or used) is very difficult. After spending the last few years with a number of ES335s from the big G, I sold them and gave up on finding a good hollowbody. I think I may give it another shot and I am looking at new 555s. Any feedback or advice is greatly appreciated. Also, dealer recommendations are appreciated as I will more than likely will have to order and not have the chace to play it before I recieve it. Also. what's a good price for a new 555? Thanks, Ron
brentrocks Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 new 555s usually run about $2500, street price
skydog52 Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I am on my second H-555 (should have never sold the first one). Love them both. First one had HRWs with D-VIP. The one I own now has HRWs and I love it. I am with you on semi-hollows, love the feel and tone. Brent is right on with price. I received mine about 2 months ago and I payed $2700 with a couple extras.
mark555 Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 If you order a brand new one, check out Kuz' 535, it has the most incredible finish of any guitar I have ever seen - the holy grail of sunburst..... By the way, welcome from a fellow 555 player..
Humbuster Posted August 6, 2009 Author Posted August 6, 2009 Thank you for the great feedback. That is 1 stunning 555. If I decide to order (probaly from Jay Wolfe) what is approx. leadtime for build? he does have a nice transparent blue in stock, however I may just want to order to my specs. Around 4 months build time from order to your door.
Thundersteel Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 I might be reluctantly selling mine. It's a 2004, Almond Burst, with the 3-piece flamed maple neck. No dings or scratches. PM me if you're interested.

Also. what's a good price for a new 555? Thanks, Ron Hi Humbuster and welcome to the club It is in any way a good decision to purchase a H 555. But keep in mind the 555 is not to compare with a 535. The wood is different. Normally, the 555 sounds brighter than a 535 and it doesn't sound as "woody" as a 535. Soundwise the 555 is somewhere between a LP or H 150 and a H 535. But it's a great guitar anyway. I love my 555 the more I play it. Hope my 535 doesn't become jealous
TheRecordFable Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Why not buy a used one I did and received it for a great price. 2700 was not an option at the time I was laid off. The used market in Chicago was like a desert when it came to H-555s but my patience paid off and I could not be happier...8)
TheRecordFable Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 http://elderly.com/vintage/items/40U-4654.htm My apologies for the double post but found one ^ at elderly if your interested. Good luck with finding your H-555/triple nickle.
mark555 Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 That is 1 stunning 555. My sincere thanks for your compliment. I think nickel really goes well with the natural finish which is mellowing nicely. According to the serial number on mine, it was completed 20th December 1995. I am hoping that my 555 is the only one like it in the UK, I like having something different.
Thundersteel Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 I held that H555 when I was at Elderly last week. The pictures don't show it, but there are a lot of scratches and buckle wear on the back. There are some scratches on the front as well.
