jaywolfe Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 We have sent Heritage some Brazilian fingerboards & ordered 3 custom H150's - one for myself, one for Graham Zebedee & one for Pal & great Photographer Vince Ricardel. Heritage has begun the build & we're anxious. These 3 babies will have some cool specs: * Brazilian Rosewood fingerboards, aged & cured. well figured * Long neck tenon * Light Honduran 1 pc. bodies * Thin Nitro finish * Lollars * Pigtail aged alum. ABR bridge & aged alum stop bar * 50's necks * special tuners, but no cheap Chinese plastic junk * and a few other special request features. Should be fun, and after all's said & played & all the tales are told, I'll wager these sound............ about as fine as as............................. anyone's good 150 & way better then almost any modern era Gib. LP.! We shall see & hear in a month or 3, and we'll gladly post some youtube comparo's, because we love doing that sort of thing. Stay tuned. BTW- this is one of the many reasons we LOVE Heritage, as they indulge us these sort of projects. Jay Wolfe

tulk1 Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 ...only three...? That's what I was thinking. Kind of selfish .... well, not really. Since they found the BrazBoard. Still, sorta cruel to tease like that. It's interesting that one of the specs is a "long tenon". Since that old thread was just revived this past week or so. Didn't know they'd do long tenons. Might have to add that to the list for the next special order. The 50s neck I know darned well they can do. What's a pigtailed bridge?
SouthpawGuy Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Jay .... Lollar P-90s or humbuckers ? Do you play left handed by any chance ?

Millennium Maestro Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 I love it when I see people taking pride in having instruments built in top choice materials... I just love it!! One day I will run across your path, it will be cool to say Hi!! The devil in me says I will like the meeting more than E. Roman's meeting...LOL M.M.
DC Ron Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Back in the early 90's there was a very active guitar show circut in the Southeast: Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Atlanta, etc. Jay used to pack up a bunch of stuff and set up a booth at all of them. (George Gruhn used to show up, too. Remind me to tell that story sometime.) Probably bought from him at one show or another four or five guitars, an amp (I still have), and a Kawai GB-2 (recently resold for more than I paid for it on eBay. go figure.). Used to chat with him a bit at each show, he always took time to talk about stuff in general, whether I was buying or not. Believe he was then the largest volume Heritage dealer, assume he still is, or close. Geez, between Gbase and other reaches of the internet who knows? But in the dictionary under "class act" I always expect to see a photo of Jay. He plays a mean Sleep Walk, too.
Mills Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 What's a pigtailed bridge? It's a brand of bridge: http://www.pigtailmusic.com/Products.php Sounds like one awesome guitar! A lot like what I was emailing you about a few days ago! -Nate

SouthpawGuy Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 SouthpawGuy Posted Aug 8 2009, 09:17 PM Jay .... Lollar P-90s or humbuckers ? ________________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________ They're Humbuckers! So you've been doing a bit of "research" then ? I won't tell anyone Promise.
jaywolfe Posted August 11, 2009 Author Posted August 11, 2009 "Lollar P-90s or humbuckers ?" We selected Lollar Imperial HB's after a very comprehensive blindfold pickup comparison at the shop with over 30 players/ enthusiasts and all Heritage H150's. The Duncan Seth Lovers tied with Imperials for 1'st place. Vince Ricardel scored the Brazilian boards & proposed this project. Check out his web site for some amazing guitar player photos. These 3 pieces are dubbed VR 1, 2 & 3 as Vince Ricardel requested. We'd gladly make more if we're happy with these AND if Vince can score some more boards, however I believe a good piece of Indian or similar Rosewood sounds & wears just as good, as evidenced by all the fabulous sounding Heritages with that wood- so we may offer this model with Indian or any available & dense So. American variety we can get. Jay Wolfe ________________________________________________________________________________
