High Flying Bird Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 I brought this stray home from PSPII. Yesterday I replaced the "butter knife" handle on the wiggler with the Chet Atkins' arm and set the intonation. Last night I played it through a tiny Beringer amp for a few hours and loved it.
zookroo1 Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Wow! I could look at that pic all day. Amazing looking guitar!
SouthpawGuy Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 That's one fine looking geetar right there ! Congrats.
yoslate Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Gorgeous, Bird! I'm with Brent; the blocks make that guitar! Very nice!
Gitfiddler Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 What a beautiful finish on that 535 Custom!! That 'wiggler' contraption ain't too shabby lookin' either.
Scooter Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Bird, that is beautiful. Love the finish, too. Congrats on a fine guitar. What kind of pups are in it?
High Flying Bird Posted August 10, 2009 Author Posted August 10, 2009 Thanks guys. I really like the way it plays. It is a custom and it has HRWs in it.
Dick Seacup Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Great looking guitar HFB; I really need to invest in an Atkins arm for the 170.
big bob Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Ill be right over to finger flub that sweet thing... I hope it's as fun as dicks 170.
High Flying Bird Posted August 10, 2009 Author Posted August 10, 2009 Ill be right over to finger flub that sweet thing... I hope it's as fun as dicks 170. Hahahahaha................
LK155 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Excellent ax, Bird. Now, at the risk of being tedious, GET THAT THING ON A NON-REACTIVE STAND IMMEDIATELY.
Sparky Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Wow... what a beautiful specimen. Its nice to be employed so you can buy things ain't it? Bird... a well deserved new concubine. Them little Behringer amps sound PDG for what they are don't they? Congrats on the new arrival.
skydog52 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Beeeeeeeautiful axe! Love the color and burst.
High Flying Bird Posted August 11, 2009 Author Posted August 11, 2009 Them little Behringer amps sound PDG for what they are don't they? Congrats on the new arrival. They sure do. I keep my Blues Jr. at one place I play and the Behringer at the other. I think this is the model I have, if not mine is a few years older and looks the same. For $90.00 it was hard to pass up. They have a bass amp the same size. http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/AC108.aspx Marv looked the guitar over and said it was a chestnut burst. The scribble on the label was a little hard to read. It looks more cherry colored in most light but it looks like it does here in sunlight...... which is a pretty important light source.
High Flying Bird Posted August 11, 2009 Author Posted August 11, 2009 .......GET THAT THING ON A NON-REACTIVE STAND IMMEDIATELY. Hercules stands are supposed to be safe for your finish. My guitars don't sit in stands enough to matter. One bad thing is that this guitar was kept on a stand that discolored the binding on the bottom. To be honest it really doesn't bother me since it was that way when I got it. If I had been responsible for the damage I would be crazy...... wait, I am crazy.
ledzef Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Haven't seen those volume/tone knobs before are those custom as well?
tulk1 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Excellent ax, Bird. Now, at the risk of being tedious, GET THAT THING ON A NON-REACTIVE STAND IMMEDIATELY. That's the stuff right there!!! And as we all learned earlier, don't just throw corny records at the stand and expect it to react.
High Flying Bird Posted August 11, 2009 Author Posted August 11, 2009 Haven't seen those volume/tone knobs before are those custom as well? I would be willing to bet that they are custom from GC or the Musician's Fiend. It probably had black speed knobs from the factory. I a thinking about putting some of those hologram skull knobs on it.... just kidding.
