Neanderthal Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Last night our band had practice. We took a break, and I unslung my H-150--and hit the ceiling fan with the headstock. It left a nice battered ding on the margin and took a good chip of finish off, too. Many tears. Many, many tears. Oh well, total Heritage mojo now. (Actually, I think I can cover this with some old fashioned Testor's model paint).
Mikenov Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Bound to happen.. it's got character now. its bound to be worth more now that its relic'd!
tulk1 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 They happen. And now you don't have to worry about that first ding. Dont have to be happy about it. And you certainly don't want anymore. But .. you are now over that hump. Congrats!!!
yoslate Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Now, it's really yours! Congratulations! I love getting past that first one...takes the pressure off! I'd be really careful about "touching up," though. That frequently turns out looking as bad or worse!
smurph1 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 At one point, I had a Taylor 310 acoustic..Great sounding guitar..One day at practice, a friend knocked a mic stand over and put a huge gouge in the top..I cried a few tears that day, but I swear it sounded better..Probably psychological, but what the he##!!
mark555 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 worst thing I ever did was drop the battery out of my digi camera onto my friends beautiful L5 and take a chunk out of the finish on the front.. ! I was mortified. Thankfully the guitar was put right and we are still the best of friends.
mark555 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 sorry to learn you dinged your guitar, but it comes to us all eventually! Main thing is, it's your own personal ding!!

JeffB Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I bought mine already with store wear. Just a few little scuffs etc. Didnt really notice them to be honest, someone else pointed them out to me. Ive added some others without knowing how or when. Sounds great.
pegleg32 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Just think of it as an increase in value, some folks get paid a lot of money to do this!!!
DCA Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Now, it's really yours! Congratulations! I love getting past that first one...takes the pressure off! I'd be really careful about "touching up," though. That frequently turns out looking as bad or worse! So true. How can you really play an instrument that you're worried about? To each their own, but I prefer playing with both feet firmly planted on the music side of the lawn. I've gigged Dottie enough to have taken a few bottles chucked my way. Whenever I've jumped into the crowd, I've always had Dottie strapped tight, smashing her way through the crowd...I'm gunna find that F***ER and I'm gonna beat the SH*T out of him!!! They always hide in the bathroom. WHICH STALL IS HE HIDING IN?!!!!!!! I'm gonna kick twelve colors of sh*t outta that SOB when I find him I wouldn't get too worked up about cymbal rash.
gopeteygo Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 For several hundred bucks I coulda relic'd that for ya and you'd never have to worry about it again.
Millennium Maestro Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Screw the guitar... did you damage the ceiling fan?? LOL that really sucks especially if you take alot of pride in the care of your shit!! I used to play in this rehearsal studio that had a low roof and one band member broke the headstock off his jackson hitting the roof. Take care! M.M.

Two things about this post cracks me up. 1) I would LOVE to see you burst into the crowd swinging your axe looking for the guy that chucked the bottle.. 2) I love that you ended it with " I wouldn't get to worked up ..." I am coming to your next gig, throwing a bottle, and running like hell!
brentrocks Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 if i ever did something like that to the GM...i would cry..... untill i knew it was ok...lol
jmb27 Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Dings & tears? It happens. Sometimes it's avoidable. Sometimes it ain't. Regardless, it'll add some mojo. And, it'll show that it's a tough axe and able to not only bring the tones you need, but also survive a lil' bit of action too ... cheers always, eh Joel
Kuz Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Greeny has a couple dings from my strap-lock strap hitting it. I am still crying and Greeny is a blues guitar. I am just so anal about preserving the beauty of how they look new from the factory. I am currently in counseling....
