pegleg32 Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Lord I hate to go to Jay W's website. By the time I get to the bottom of his Heritage listings, I'm just emotionally drained. http://www.gbase.com/stores/wolfe-guitars/...itage&grp=5
golferwave Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 It's always been like that. I go the the site when I need a little cheering up. Works every time.
pegleg32 Posted August 24, 2009 Author Posted August 24, 2009 LOL, yes, he has almost 100 Heritages listed, and everyone is better than the one just before it. I'm sure glad I don't own a guitar shop!!!
ledzef Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 That rose color 535 is just amazing. Sharp GAS pains while typing this.
barrymclark Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I did that 137 with the single bridge p/u sporting the LP JR looking pickguard. I think the finish is tobacco burst. Pretty sweet.
tulk1 Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 You think looking at the site is GAS inducing? Try walking into his shop. It's a veritable Shangri La in there. And once you're done with the guitars you have to deal with all the amps. It's wowzers-ville, for sure. I did notice on this 2009 575 Thin that the write up says Plek'd. Hmmm, don't recall seeing the Plek'r in the vids or the tour. Anyone else notice or hear if it's back in use?
pegleg32 Posted August 24, 2009 Author Posted August 24, 2009 I don't know if they are "pleking" all of their guitars or just some, but I do see that on their website they mention they have a new plek machine.

Yeah, that's been on the website for a few years now. On the PSPI tour they had a sign hanging on the Plek that said "out of order". And Ren mentioned it wasn't being used. It's kinda been a running joke that they forgot the instructions.
pegleg32 Posted August 24, 2009 Author Posted August 24, 2009 Hmmmm, false advertising? Or maybe they do use it on request. Maybe someone in the know could straighten out we speculators. Probably a logical explanation if we had all the facts.

Probably a logical explanation if we had all the facts. Def not false advertising. This received today, straight from the Wolf's mouth - "they use it when we request it". And "it's functioning fine". So, there we go. It's available if requested, but apparently not used in normal production.
pegleg32 Posted August 24, 2009 Author Posted August 24, 2009 Thanks Tulk and Jay - very interesting!! Anyone special ordering a guitar might be interested also.
yoslate Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Interesting! Kuz and I saw the (a?) Plek machine in a room off to the left, about three or four doors from the entrance, in what John thought was Ren's "office" (There appeared to be specific notes John had given Ren, regarding an order, scrawled on the wall, next to the bench). I think a number of others saw it, too. If that Plek had been used in the past year, I'd be very, very surprised. It was covered in dust and had all sorts of junk piled on and around it. I love those guys!

yngwie308 Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I was not aware of the killer korina bodied "slab guitars" aka G LPJ and LPS, with the LF P90's awesome, what are the single pickup and double pickup versions going for?? Dave
TalismanRich Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 When I was on a tour last year, Ren mentioned that their Plek was down. He said something about software updates. Maybe the old one runs on Win98 and the new software has to have Vista. They have the Plek basic, according to the Plek website. It looks like it was one of the first in the US (Jan 2004). Most everyone else has the Plek Pro and most are 2006 or later. I know the machine isn't cheap.

Kuz Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Never let the truth get in the way of a good story. Salesman's creed right?! Trust me there is no Plek'ing going on at Heritage. This is definitely not an insult to Heritage (I have plek'd guitars from them and unplek'd. Personally I can't tell the difference). I don't want to start the great debate over Heritage's fret work becasue all of my 9 Heritages have had perfect frets - both plek'd & unplek'd. My action is 3.5/32th at 12th fret. My point is that Wolfe needs to explain where he is getting his guitars plek'd or change his misleading advertising.
Kuz Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 OK it is has been brought to my attention that Wolfe pays Heritage to have some/most/all (?) of their guitars to be Plek'd. Since we know that the Heritage Plek machine is not in service or used, Heritage most send these special Wolfe guitars out. If this is the case then Wolfe is not using misleading advertising. I would just like to know if this is the case and where Heritage sends the guitars to be plek'd. Personally I'd just as soon own a Heritage that had it's frets finished in house at Heritage, but I know others opinions may vary.
cod65 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 filtering just for lefties doesn't even help. with WolfeGas,that is. re: Plek. Isnt there only a handful of machines in the world ? I would think they lease it becasue they are up near 100k I believe. There is one near me here at Gary Brawer's in San Francisco.
mark555 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I just wish Jay had a showroom here in the UK. He must be the worlds number one Heritage dealer, and probably will be the supplier of my next heritage, a 150CM. We just don't have any thing like Jay's shop over here, and when you do get a decent size store there is no Heritage presence at all. Heritgae just can't seem to get a foot hold here in the UK.
Jazzpunk Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I'm SO glad I don't live near Jay's shop. I'd be broke and single for sure!
