tulk1 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Anyone checked out the online prices at Eddies Guitars lately? Are they insane? Or just overly optimistic?
Steiner Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 It appears that they call it "Crazy Eddies" for a reason! Come on down to Eddies, we got free lollipops for the kids; and talking about suckers - look at this here guitar!
pegleg32 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 When you go to the details page, they say "call for better price", so I did, and the recording says "remote access not allowed" and hangs up. I guess they don't want my business. They sort of wasted a nice web site.
barrymclark Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Looks like he is putting MSRP up there. That is pretty common with the 'call for price' sites.
Millennium Maestro Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 To me this is a reduntant topic. Eddies is a retailer... Dont like a price, try a negotiation or.. Dont buy. Want a cheap guitar... Buy used. I agree Suggested Retail price is a joke... If your any knid of buyer, you should already know... hardly ever does anyone pay full retail. M.M.

Jazzpunk Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I've found all the dealers I've contacted to have pretty much the same prices on new Heritage guitars. Never called Crazy Eddies though.

His probably are the same too once you call for their price. Might be higher, but, like I was saying, those look like MSRP prices and the 'call for price' places almost always post MSRP and want you to call.
pegleg32 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Yes, but he is using MSRP on used guitars also. What's with that?
squawken Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I usually e-mail them for a price, which is lower. And in their e-mail message they say to call to get an even lower price. I've never gotten that far though.
golferwave Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I've seen them put H-150's and H-157's on ebay for hundreds of dollars less than they quote you over the phone. Kind of makes you want to call them up and buy doesn't it?
TalismanRich Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 If anyone has one of the latest flyers that were handed out at PSP, they can compare Eddie's pricing versus the flyer. I never liked the "suggested retail" pricing. I think in a lot of cases, it scares people off of potential sales. You look at a guitar and it says it's $2900. Reality might be $2000. Thats a big difference.
tulk1 Posted August 26, 2009 Author Posted August 26, 2009 One point is that if you use their shopping cart and "add" the product, it's at MSRP. So, what's the point of the cart if you need to call them to get the correct price? Also, seems they don't have as many guitars listed as they did "precart". BTW, I'm very familiar with Eddies, having discovered them many years ago while looking for PRSi (that would be my pre-H days ). I've called them many times to price gear - always just a bit on the high side. But I will add, if you want to get your hands on some nice amps and guitars, Eddies has them. Of course, it helps to be in the StL area.
nat120 Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I have a funny sorry about Crazy Eddie's. I decided that I wanted to buy my first Heritage H-157 and they had a 2007 model in collector mint condition. I offered them $1600 but they wanted $1900 so I ended up buying on from Mill Man on this site. The guy plays better then any guitar I have ever owned Les Paul style. I ended up seeing the one I wanted from Eddie on Ebay so I watched it and they were only asking $1350. No body bought the guitar and he put it up right away again. I ended up buying it for $1400 shipped to me with a great case. I guess I got the last laugh Crazy Eddie. Good things come to those that wait.

Hows it going Nate buddy.. glad you enjoy the 157 I sold you.. i went through massive withdrawals on that sale!!! aquired another 2001 157 black beauty to help soothe the pain, as it turned out this one is lighter and a little more marred( has laquer burns from a stand). Interesting story though. Like I said earlier... prices too high buy used!!! M.M.

Millennium Maestro Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 OUCH.. I feel so dirty. I guess I am gonna have to work on supporting Heritage. I almost feel like i should be shamed enough to put tape over the headstocks of all my used Heritages because of my lack of insight!!

I think what Kuz is hinting at is that if no one buys new heritages, they will go out of business.
nat120 Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Hey Millenium. I have to say that the guitar you sold me plays amazing. I have never been happier with a guitar. It plays a lot better then my Gibson Les Paul Standard. It also looks great. I am glad you picked up another one. The are sweet guitars. The one you sold me really sings on lead and you can hear every note played.
