paul144
The guitar arrived from upstate NY safely...its a beautiful wine red. Needed some cleaning up, especially the tuning pegs & frets, they were really crusty (see pics). Has Schaller pickups, but they are 4 wire conductor..is that normal? Also have stickers (See pics again) that say Hi Tech? Are these the basic Schallers in all Heritages? Nice flame, not over the top which is nice. The pickups sound almost identical to the HRWs in my gold 140. Have to try it with a different amp. I'm lovin' these 140s!

High Flying Bird
I like the color too. All the Schallers I have seen have 4 wires.
totonka
Awesome color on that 140! I'm sorry, was there a guitar in the last photo?
TalismanRich
You're not cleaning off all that crust are you? I know for a fact that it's not crust, but a very rare compound called "patina". Guaranteed to increase the value many many times it's original value. I read about it many times on the LP forum. Anyway, I hope you enjoy playing MY guitar! ( it stinks to hesitate and miss out on such a nice deal.)
Scooter
Wow! Trans-red looks real good on a 140. Woof. I also never realized that 140s had cheeks.

big bob
Nice one. thoes are regular shallers, same as the ones that Kramer put in their guitars in the 80's.

slider313
Hey Paul.....nice color and while those frets have their fair share of pitting and "ging" on them, it looks like there's hardly any wear at all on the ones in the photo. All the Schallers I've ever seen were four conductor. It looks like there's a large crack on that middle piece in the last photo!
paul144
Yeah Mike, thats some crack I'd sure like to smoke. You're right, hardly any fret wear. I had to dress the first & second just a little and that was it.
slider313
The neck to body joint is usually susceptible to cracking but I've seen it happen at the lower bout, around the back also. I was thinking more along the lines of getting out the glue gun and injecting some hot glue in there.
FredZepp
Very Cool. I have to admit that this is one of the coolest 140's I've seen. While I pretty much like them all, this one just has a nice quality vibe.
Thundersteel
I was thinking more along the lines of getting out the glue gun and injecting some hot glue in there. You talking about the guitar, correct? And not the subjects in the last pic?

paul144
thanks everyone, haven't had much time to play it since I just came back from dropping my daughter off at college. Should have plenty of time this week though. Hey Mike, you're a sick puppy, lol! It took me a few tries to get it! You're right, no fret wear at all and they polished right up. Just had to cut slots a little deeper. Since my other 140 has HRWs, maybe some drop in P-90s for this one? Any recommendations?

They are not true P90's but have a GREAT 'tweener (bucker/p90) tone. Great score!
