barrymclark
Any info on these? Round about prices? Anyone know if these are chambered? If so, extent of the chambering?

RhoadsScholar
I got the first one. Had it done in ALL GOLD. I love it. It is chambered. great feel/balance. No regrets here. All the owners are fantastic at Heritage. Marv was giving me a tour. He showed m the 110. I told him I liked the shape/style of the 170 . He chuckled and showed me the prototype Body which was chambered. I asked it anyone had gotten the 1st one yet. After few phonecalls, it was mine. Regarding price, It was about 200 more than the 150. I think you could get into one of these between $2500 to $3000 today (maybe less if you are a good wheeler dealer) depending on how you speced it out. IT is a lot different than the orginal 170. The chambered body is fantastic. better balance. I have a video on youtube of when I picked it up as well as Ren playing it (my son shot the video) do a youtube search for rhoadsscholar and you should find the 170 coming through clean through a heritage amp. Picked it up Sept 18th, 2008. It has been almost 1 year. WOW
High Flying Bird
I got the first one. Had it done in ALL GOLD. I love it. I remember you getting this guitar. I loved it because it was all gold like my 535.
RhoadsScholar
I remember you getting this guitar. I loved it because it was all gold like my 535. WOW a 535 in all Gold. Wouldn't want to hijack this thread as I think the new H170 is an awsome axe (kind of a PRS killer to me). BUT I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A PICTURE of a gold 535 (might have to be my next heritage on the list)... I didn't know this, but Marv Lamb shared with me how difficult it is to finish a guitar in Gold (hence it took longer, but well worth it). If you pick up the new 170 chambered, I believe it is well balanced. Hopefully dealers can stock them. As I said, I love it.
Sparky
I don't get why the H170's are chambered. They don't weigh much more than an SG without chambering.

Kuz
I don't get why the H170's are chambered. They don't weigh much more than an SG without chambering. Because everybody is doing it. I am with you, I prefer non-chambered solid body guitars.

RhoadsScholar
I happen to think part of the magic this particular model has is because of the chambering. Don't get me wrong, I love non chambered 150s (I still have two, one is about 8 lbs, the other about 10lbs). The chambered comes in between 6.5 and 7. It feels so right with the symetrical double cutaway. I usually always shift my guitar around a few times after putting it on. The heavier the guitar, the longer it take to find the sweet spot (sweet spot for weight distribution when playing live standing up). I don't have that problem with the 170 I guess it leans just right (although I usually lean left) With both pickups on, to me it sounds very 335 (H535) sounding or similar to a Millinium without the feedback issues as I mostly used my electic for classic rock sounds along with a Strat. I got rid of the Millinium and still feel the sound palet I have to work with is nice. Don't think of this being done strictly for weight reduction. It gives additional tonal options stying closer to the original LP/150 sound. It is good to see a few of the floating around I think they need to be played side by side with a PRS to truely appreciate them. It would have to be a very high in Gibson of the ones they make these days to rival the build/quality. But we all knowthat because we like the heritage. Dick Seacup
I don't get why the H170's are chambered. They don't weigh much more than an SG without chambering. For weight, based on my sample size of one, they don't need chambering. Rob called the ToneSucker effeminate, incidentally. I think the chambers are either a 'tone' decision or a marketing move.
