tulk1
Just got back from a local blues jam. The singer from my country band wanted to hit this joint called Knuckleheads. So, off we went. And since she really didn't know where it was, it was quite the adventure finding them. Way down in the bottoms where you'd never expect to see ... well, anything of this sort. Good turn out, place opens to the outside so they can have bands in or out. Typical 1/4/5 blues players, SRV wannabes, some real decent players - you can figure out the bunch. I will say the group we were matched with had a hard time doing anything that wasn't straight 1/4/5. We tried doing a 1/7/4 intro to a 1/4/5 and sadly, they couldn't find it. In fact, the bass player and drummer just stopped playing once, altogether. Very weird. Never hit an accent, a stop or whatever. We finally settled into a straight blues prog and just wailed away until we'd all played ourselves out. Anyway ... that is not the point of the post. As I was coming off the stage the bass player from the group before is sitting right by our table. He catches my eye and mentions what a beautiful instrument I'm working. Oh, do I need to mention which guitar went there with me? So, turns out he owns a Heritage. An H157 that he's pulled the gold hardware off of and replaced with nickle. Mentioned he loves the Schaller roller bridge after the guy sitting with him mentioned how "funny" the bridge looked. His name was Ron and he lives about 20 mins from the 'zoo. Now, how cool is that? We talked a bit about the boys and the guitars. He was just over there recently to pick up a case for his guitar, met Ren, took a tour, etc. Told him to hit us up on the HoC. Hopefully he'll do so. What a small world, eh?
