skydog
Can one of our archtop gurus answer this gentleman's question on HC: Can someone explain Heritage's 4-point pickup mounting method? I've heard this really helps the tone of an archtop and would like to try it on my Washburn J-6. Played an archtop Heritage yesterday and all it looked like were 4 washer-like circles placed on each corner of the pickup, elevating it a bit. Any suggestions on what to use for my guitar? thanks! The best answer I could find is from the Heritage site. http://www.heritageguitar.com/products/customize.htm Another way to attach the pickup would be ala Johnny Smith floater attached at the end of the fretboard. Some guys put pieces of felt or rubber feet under the p'up so that there is some contact with the vibrating top. Kuz
Call Ren at the Heritage factory. He invented the 4-point floater and will be happy to talk your ear off about it. (For what it's worth I had it done on the Sweet 16 with an HRW. I sold the guitar because I never became a Jazzier but it sounded INCREDIBLE!!!!)
