brentrocks
I was talking on the phone w/ KUZ the other day. We were talking about his recent trade, Greenie and other Heritage related topics. I asked him about his experience with Greenie and special ordering a Heritage and what to expect. In a way, John inspired me to want to special order a new Heritage. I have also been thinking about how that can help boost production in these hard times. So I called Vince and asked him to spec me out the guitar i want and run it through a local dealer, so it doesnt have to travel far. The other part of the decision was how to finance the special order. I knew i had to sell one of my guitars to do it....WHICH ONE? I was actually considering selling the GM, but come to the realization that what i paid VS what todays market will stand is not going to work. So i put the V up on TGP and a couple others and i think i have a buyer!!! (not 100% yet) So anyway...it looks like i may be able to special order my self a new Heritage...like i said to John, I'm doing this for 2 reasons, 1 selfish and 1 not so selfish. The selfish reason is that i want a new Heritage that is all my own, like your DNA. The other is so that i can help out Heritage in these hard times and keep the home fires burning. It makes me feel good to know that i may be helping out a company that has done so much for us. I will hopefully know about the sale of the V tomorrow...(KEEP MY FINGERS CROSSED!) squawken
Very cool Brent! In one way, I am disappointed about the GM. but in another way (and much larger) I am very happy for you, and that you get to keep it, as well as get your very own new Heritage from birth. fxdx99
Good post, Brent, really well stated. Can just 'see' your cogs clicking thru on this one. Maybe it's the time of year, but GAS just seems to leap up and grab ya sometimes. I was absolutely, postively set on guitars for the year anyway... then saw your blueburst a while back and that caused a crack... then today I see a used Kirn barnbuster tele for sale (2 of them actually - what are the odds!) and now I'm 'just looking' around all the typical sites to see what's out there since the fever is getting kinda high now. I must have that look in my eye - Lynn looks at me after work and says 'are you buying a guitar' (geesh - how do the DO that?!?). Really like the idea of ordering a Heritage, specing it out, getting JUST what you want. I've had one in mind a while now... A new guitar to your specs made by the folks there on Parsons... yup, very cool deal there mr rocks! Hope it all works out for you - looking forward to hearing more about it. Talking to Kuz about Heritage guitars will do that to a man! Speaking as one who's special ordered, and had it work out very well in the end, I can't tell you how much satisfaction I've had from the super Super, as John had so aptly named it! It always sits out in the guitar room, is played almost daily, and is a joy to behold for me. It's become almost another persona, living in the house. Granted, I didn't spec it out to be very different, just different enough, and very much mine, "like DNA." They've come and gone over the years...bunches of them, but this one, made for me in Kalamazoo by guys I've now met, guys I've played it for, I simply cannot imagine ever letting this one go. Keep us posted on the step-by-step, Brent. I'm sure you'd have quite an audience for that on-going thread. It could be informative, instructive, and (dammit) GAS inducing! I've got a 150 for them to build, but I've some obligations to take care of first. And I've got to figure out how to tell Cindy that the last guitar I'll ever want is about to move two spots from the end of that list. Sheesh! Brent, you're an inspiration to us all...and in that, the biggest threat to my marriage since...uh...never mind that story....

Steiner
Whew! No HRWs on the V!!! There exists a tremendous pleasure in owning a specified guitar; especially a Heritage! Calling the wood, the mechanics, electronics and even neck dimensions makes each one unique and very personal. I've owned a good share of guitars. They all had something I clamored for. None had everything I wanted. One day I sat with a fine gentleman from Alabama and described all the attributes of the "perfect" guitar. 3 months later Heritage delivered their version and they NAILED it! golferwave
....i just feel like i should do more to support Heritage...and what better way than to order a new one! My friend that owns a guitar store told me he's going to call Vince to inquire about becoming a dealer. If that happens I don't know what will become of my bank account. Might be getting meals at the mission to make payments on the new axes.
FredZepp
Excellent news , glad to hear about it.. Thanks for including us in the process. Moments like these make you proud to be part of the HOC and grateful and amazed at the good people involved , all the way around. I understand as well as anyone, the pangs of GAS pains... you are putting yours to good use. Way to go , Brent !!
Kuz
Brent, I really applaud you!. 1. There is NO BETTER JOY than receiving a custom order you spec'd out! Greeny, First ever of Production 535 p-90, and my Cust 555, give me pleasures beyond my playing abilities. They were my ideas, my colors, my necks..... 2. Someday, and when that day comes I will be eternally sad, we won't have a Marv, Ren, Bill, et al around building guitars anymore. When will they stop, most certainly on their terms, but it will be sooner than later. I feel very fortunate that THESE specific men made my guitars. 3. Heritage appreciates everything that you (and we have done for them lately). And all of that wouldn't have been possible without that bastard Administrator of ours!!!! I encourage anyone on the fence to order a custom Heritage. It will be your DNA, your heirloom, YOUR guitar!
Jazzpunk
I just found out I'm getting some money back from last years taxes (yes, I wait till the last minute to file!) and you guys are making me jones for a custom order of my own! One question, do we have to go through a dealer to do a custom order? If so, why? Considering the times, perhaps Heritage could cut out the middle man and offer HOC members a 'dealer' price on custom orders for the holidays. So who has some pull? Well, Heritage is very loyal to their dealers. so to answer your question, you WILL have to go through a dealer. I am too. I'm very pleased to hear that you may be ordering a new Heritage as well. I talked to the possible buyer of the V last night...he had me measuring all parts of the guitar, i answered tons of questions....but he seemed very interested...if it is meant to be it will sell. ...oh, and if i do order this new Heritage, i'm keeping totally secret untill i bring it home i want to create some major GAS so that all of you will want to order one too.... tulk1
The Millie NFH was a total spec'd out guitar. And my Prospect will be as well (funds are getting there). So I can certainly appreciate the desire to own a custom ordered Heritage. Knowing that you've got the likes of Marv and Bill watching over your build, with Ren putting the final touches on it. Yeah baby. And you KNOW that they're going to take good care of you. Kudos, Brent. Hopefully your custom guitar will hold a spot as desired as the GM. skydog52
Great decision Brent. You will love the anticipation and the process of picking those custom specs. With your taste it should be a nice one. Every Heritage I've owned I ordered and have had a good experience. I have one on order as we speak, first one through Jay Wolfe and got a call from Vince the other day to nail down the color. It was nice to get a call from one of the owners so they get that right. I arranged with Jay to pick up guitar from Parsons St.. I've done that with the last 3 I've purchased. Good Luck

shook494
I have to applaud the decision to support our favorite guitar company. I've been seriously thinking about doing the same thing ever since I saw the Skolnick on here. I really want one of those. Good luck with this process Brent.
