KissTone
Just wondering if you can order one of the newer 'traditional' Gibson-looking pickguards that are showing up on Heritages these days. Does anyone happen to know? Thanks.

Kuz
Actually if you want the Gibby look (I have 2 that I put Gibson pickguards on, because Heritage is more Gibson than Gibson) you can just buy the Authentic Gibson brand pickguards- one is for humbucks and you is for p-90s. I know Sweetwater music carry them- maybe cost $20-25 including shipping.

It makes sense that the guards would be interchangeable, but I wasn't sure if perhaps pickup spacing was a little different between the companies. Well, remember I was talking about adding a NEW pickguard to a Heritage, if the holes are already drilled from the factory for a Heritage pickguard then I am not sure if the holes will line up with the Gibby one. Mine were put on BEFORE any Heritage pickguard was put on.

I've been looking at used 535's hoping to take my first step into the Heritage world . . . but I hate to admit it here . . . I just can't warm up to the 'non-traditional' pickguard shape. If I find a 535 in my price range wearing that two-pronged guard (sort of a bat wing?) I thought I could swap it out...
morg21279
I swapped the guards out on a Sweet 16 and a Golden Eagle - one ebony and one maple. I prefer the guards that Wolfe uses. Not a fan of the pointy ones, either. Heritage was very accommodating.

Seems the pickguards (uh, finger rests) have become a focal point of late, sort of like the headstock. You either like it, don't like it, or don't care. But for me, the wooden "batwing" pickguard is part of the Heritage brand. It's like saying I want a Heritage, but I need an open book headstock, or some other design. But that isn't what is Heritage. I'm wondering if somewhere, deep within the seedy crevaces of the mind, where no light can permeat if there isn't some deep seated psychosis saying that if guitar has the plastic pickguard that it'll look more like a Gibs and the peers will more willing to accept the guitar and not chuck the holder (or whomever) out of the fold. ......... Then again, maybe you really just don't like 'em.

I love the old Gibsons and look of the vintage Gibsons. But hey Mom moved out of town, left the kids and got a fake boob job. WHY should Gibson steal OUR (pre-Heritages) look. Heritages are more Gibson than Gibson. SO if I like the vintage Gibson look, have a guitar made by the same guys, in the same shop, the same way Gibson did, IT'S A NOS GIBSON (HERITAGE) TO ME! And I like the look of the Old Gibson picjguard (arh, finger rest). I would never want to change the headstock because.. 1. The Heritage headstock looks better (YES, I said it) 2. Is more functional 3. Does have the HERITAGE LOGO on it My .
