Kuz Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Here's a couple new pics of Greeny & Yodder with the Carr Ramber. Then a close up of Yodder herself (We have a lot of Amish in OH, especially North Central OH. Yodder is a very common Amish name. As in Mrs. Yodder's Quilt shop)
yoslate Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Guitar porn of the First Order!!! I'm really speechless! Stunning...just stunning, John!
tulk1 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 John, that is one stunning couple right there! And you're right (of course); the bound headstock is pretty cool!!
Millennium Maestro Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Awesome! HERE HERE... love the bound headstock! I can here the GAS stories already!! M.M.
DCA Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Those are both drop jaw-droppers, absolutely stunning. (Dumb) Question about the one on the left: That's a curly maple cap? I'm thinking about putting together somthing almost identical to that instrument, hence the interest. Would be handy to know exactly what I'm considering (a common problem for me).

Those two are BEAUTIFUL!!!
Dick Seacup Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Great looking pics, John. Do they have ebony boards, or is it just really dark rosewood?
FredZepp Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 OMG ......that is awesome. Man, those are just super fine. The purchase of the new one was definitely a sound idea. They resonate with prodigious tone and stupendous good looks. CONGRATS on the new addition..!
smurph1 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 BEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAUUUUUTTTTTIIIIIFFFFFUUUUULLLLLLL!!!!!!

The left is called Quilt - which is generally a bubble type effect in the Maple. Curly is generally more elongated in the movement, less tight like Kuz's 535 P90. Greenie (guitar on the right) is probaby Curly Maple, but tends to lean more towards Flame - which is tighter movement generally in parallel lines. Curly Flame Quilt
Mikenov Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Way to go Tulk.. I am nominating THIS as the post of the month. Very instructive and for some reason your pics are the only one's that come through my work filters.
Mikenov Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Hey, Kuz, I have been out of the loop. Is that the AXE Brent was selling or some other beautiful flamed guitar? I haven't followed the threads close enough to know where that guitar came from.. REAL nice though wherever it came from. You are a lucky guy!
pegleg32 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 +2 Tulk, you should put that in the gallery. Good explanation.
yoslate Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 The left is called Quilt - which is generally a bubble type effect in the Maple. Quilt Great pics, great post, Kenny! The quilt cap is also a terrific example of bookmatching, as well. Note the perfect mirroring!
Kuz Posted October 19, 2009 Author Posted October 19, 2009 1. Quilt Maple 2. Rosewood Fretboards (thank goodness. I'm not a big ebony fan) 3. I traded a wonderful Tele to a HOC member for it. With the Ron Kirn Tele coming, it made my Tele more disposable. So it's not Brent's old guitar.
ronalr Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 WOW!! ..those are e 2 beautiful guitars....and the amp ain't bad either ....great pictures...thanks for sharing Kuz
big bob Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 My friend, that is one beautiful set of guitars you have there. like any proud papa you should hold your head high. I would be intimidated to play either one in fear of marring the finish through either my acid sweat or just my poor playing.. Rock on Kuz ..
