Teeky Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 I've got an H-575 Custom (2006) with a pair of gold humbuckers. Is there any way of idenitfying what make they are - like Seymour Duncans or whatever?
SouthpawGuy Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 I've got an H-575 Custom (2006) with a pair of gold humbuckers. Is there any way of idenitfying what make they are - like Seymour Duncans or whatever? Hi, Four height adjustment screws per pickup usually indicates Schallers. If the selector switch is also tipped with a dot then that normally indicates Heritages own HRWs are installed. Two height adjustment screws per pickup is generally an indicator that Seymour Duncans are installed, often Seth Lovers or '59s. Sometimes the pickup model installed is hand written on the label, inside the f -hole on semis and hollows and on the reverse of the control cavity cover on solid bodies. Hope this helps.
FredZepp Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 If you are still not sure... post a pic and let us guess...
Teeky Posted October 27, 2009 Author Posted October 27, 2009 If you are still not sure... post a pic and let us guess... Thanks from what SouthpawGuy said I'm pretty sure I've got Seymour Duncans. BUt are they Seth Lovers or 59s? Here's a pic. Does anyone want to hazzard a guess?
brentrocks Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 i would loosen the string and pull one out to be sure...they are prob seth lovers or 59's SDs
DC Ron Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I would take a dental/inspection mirror and flashlight and look up through the f-holes. Did this on my Eagle and it worked fine once I figured out I was looking at a mirror image of the label and not cyrillic...

Didn't really fancy removing the strings at present.

big bob Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 There has been some debate as to weather the stewmac golden 50's are actually made by Schaller.
tulk1 Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Dental mirror reveals Stewmac Golden Age Humbuckers, 5403 G Bridge and 5402 G Neck. Are Stewmacs a common fitment to Heritages? The stock pickup for ages from Heritage was Schaller Golden 50s. Thought was that the Stewmac Golden Age were nearly the same. The single adjustment screw kinda threw us a bit. Schallers have 2 screws per side. And just about every stock pickup on a Heritage that had 1 adjustment screw was an SD '59 or SL. Bit of a generalization, but close enough. I'd say your pickups have been swapped out. Stewmac is not a common pickup to find on a Heritage.

I have not heard of anyone mention Stewmacs being used so far. If they'd been swapped out you would have thought they would have been upgraded. These pickups are relatively inexpensive but the reviews I've found have been glowing. It's possible they made have been substitued at the factory if there was a stock shortage of Schallers. I must admit the neck/bridge combo is great. A hard gutsy sound from the bridge pickup for rock or blues and the neck pup deliversa warm whumfy sound for jazz or accompaniment as you'd hope. It would be interesting to find if anyone else has these Stewmacs installed.
jerrysleftyguitars Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 One of the first 535s I got from Heritage as a dealer (I've been a dealer for about 20 months) had the Stewmacs. I called Heritage as I had never heard of them. They told me they put these in if they were temporarily out of Duncans, had been doing it for years. I played the Stewmacs back to back with Seth Lovers and '59s, and I preferred the Stewmacs. Not a big difference, but I liked them better. I would not intentionally order a guitar with them however, because it would be harder to sell someone on the idea of a Stewmac pickup in a factory made Heritage.

I had not heard of this before, thanks for the input, jerrysleftyguitars. BTW... Your avatar photo made me smile . the dog looks so serious.
tulk1 Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Love it when we get affirmation from those actually on the dealing side with the 'zoo. Thanks, Jerry.
