Ned Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Hi, Thought I'd better introduce myself and just say hi for now - otherwise, my first post would be asking you all for help or advice. I don't yet own a Heritage, but I am developing the same obsessive tendencies that proceeded previous guitar acquisitions. I have played a few Heritage guitars and got the bug. I play painful jazz and much-too-cheerful blues through clean amps. I'll be looking for a long term in my education. I expect that I will ask for your help in identifying finishes (amber? tobacco?) wood descriptors (flame? quilt?) and fretboard markers. Still unclear about purchasing used relatively soon, or custom somewhat later. Today my taste is tending towards a Prospect with block markers, some binding, and a figured top. I don't know that this would be easy to find in the used market. If you point me towards a picture of a similar instrument, I will print it out and keep it under the bed. Thank you for the info and your tireless BayWatch. With your help, I will join the ranks of happy Heritage owners pretty soon. Ned
conorb Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Hello and welcome. I'm quite new here myself but I've found the folks to be a helpful, tight-knit bunch. Have fun! conorb
lb61906 Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Welcome for the Forum, If you have questions, this is the place for answers! There is a ton of geetar knowledge around here. You will soon find that urges to buy Heritages will soon become hard subdue. Good luck to ya, JJ
mars_hall Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 1) Click on the Gallery Link at the top of the page 2) Type Prospect in the Search field and the click Search You should get many pics of Prospect guitars While used Prospects are out there, they are not as common as other models. Welcome
barrymclark Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 I play painful jazz...You too? I thought I was the only one. haha. Welcome to the board. As mentioned there is a scary amount of knowledge and Heritage obsession on this board. Don't worry about asking about other brands either (even the G-brand). Everyone here appreciates a good guitar regardless of where it was made. Welcome again!
skydog52 Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Hi, I play painful jazz.... I play painful jazz too. Painful to listen to Welcome aboard. Enjoy. You joined a great group of people. All you ever wanted to know about Heritage Guitar to be found here.
tulk1 Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 HI Ned. Welcome to the board. I think your choice of a Prospect is a dandy one. That guitar is one of the hidden treasures from Heritage. A few of us here have them. SouthPawGuy has a beautiful, albeit left handed, specimen in Antique Sunburst (ASB). I have a nice one in Almond Sunburst (ALSB). The block inlays may be hard to find, tho'. Unless you went special order (ahem, ahem). Not to say you wouldn't eventually find one like that, but it would have been a custom order as dots are the norm for that guitar. Anyway, if need enabling, you've come to the right place.
smurph1 Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Hi Ned..Welcome to the cult..(I mean club) Ask all the questions you want, and if we don't know, we'll just make something up..LOL..Seriously this is the friendliest guitar board out there by over a mile..Enjoy and welcome..
Spectrum13 Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Ned..Welcome to the HOC We also have a P90 subcult that works great on a prospect's floating block for jazz. This one would be called "Old Style" sunburst. For the Hertage guys old style is 50's sunburst as opposed to 60's. I had considered bound headstock and blocks but just did the inlaid headstock "the Heritage". For what you want you may need to go custom. Like an additional 1K over mint shape used and might take a couple three months.
pegleg32 Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Ahhhh, another Heritage convert. You've come to the right place to get encouragement, that's for sure. Welcome
barrymclark Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 I play painful jazz too. Painful to listen to Welcome aboard. Enjoy. You joined a great group of people. All you ever wanted to know about Heritage Guitar to be found here. We should all totally start a painful jazz trio so people only have one group to avoid. haha.
