chico Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 H535 or H150? color? pickups? anyone have a guess as to what they will be going for? http://heritageguitar.com/25th_anniversary.html
barrymclark Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 H535 or H150? color? pickups? anyone have a guess as to what they will be going for? http://heritageguitar.com/25th_anniversary.html Word is that, outside of finish, you cannot custom order a 25th anniversary BUT.... you would pay the same price for the 25th that you would for a normal one. That being said, Tobacco Burst on both.
zookroo1 Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 25th is usually kind of a big deal. I'm kind of surprised the anniversary models don't have a little something more than the wood upgrade and truss rod cover. I know they will be awesome guitars, but there really isn't anything that sets them apart that much from the regular models. I like Taylor acoustic guitars and they do a lot of cool limited edition models with unique woods, inlays, etc that make them special. (Sometimes I think maybe they have too many limited editions...) That being said, if I was in the market for a new 535 or new 150 I'd grab one!
Twin Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Since I already have a 535 and a 150 it seems only reasonable that I would get BOTH of them! They look great but I would however like to see the '25' in an inlay like I've seen on the 23rd 535.
Thundersteel Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 They look great but I would however like to see the '25' in an inlay like I've seen on the 23rd 535. That, or a "25th Anniversary" MOP ribbon on the headstock, as shown here on the 20th Anniversary model: Please ignore the crooked TRC!
barrymclark Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I'd see if I could get a matched pair if I had the money. That's what I'd get.
smurph1 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 This one is giving me heart palpatations. Yes..That is VERY sexy..
yoslate Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I'd seriously consider a 150...IF they had a bound headstock!
barrymclark Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I'd seriously consider a 150...IF they had a bound headstock! Didn't the deluxe 150 have a bound headstock?
pegleg32 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I'll start off by saying I expect to be in the minority here, but I just don't dig the 25th anniversary model. It just isn't special, and in fact I think it is just plain, well, plain!! At one time I had serious expectations of joining the waiting line for one of these, but I think I will look around for something else.
ronalr Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I really like the tobacco 150...just classy looking to me.....however I have a problem that only money would fix PRS is having their 25th Anniversary next year as well and they have a whole bunch of Anniversary models coming out...new colors and pick ups and other special features.......oh well I might as well get 1 Heritage and 1 PRS ....in my dreams though....I showed my wife a great deal I was offered on a new 25th PRS 305 model and said how about just this 1 Xmas present....and I got the look .....no soup for you!!!! Oh well I should enjoy what I have...she is very good about my 40+ collection of guitars and Mandolins.......but dear I am trying to help the economy by spending!!!!
Gitfiddler Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 That, or a "25th Anniversary" MOP ribbon on the headstock, as shown here on the 20th Anniversary model: Please ignore the crooked TRC! For Heritage to NOT offer a bound headstock or special inlay similar to the 20th Anniversary models is a HUGE mistake IMHO. By failing to make the 25th's more unique, fancy or different from the standard versions, they also lose some of the collectible cache usually associated with anniversary special editions. I would not order either model. A custom ordered one-off would be more appealing to me.
Callaway Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Should have done something very special at least with the fingerboard inlays, I also like the idea of the ribbon on the 25th Anny on the bound headstock. You only get one shot at the plate for the 25th you really should make a statement and make the most of your opportunities. I do really like the tobacco burst look and you could do damn much with it as well. Nothing pimpy looking but just something real tasty.
nachogrande Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Hmmm Tobacco burst H150 looks yummy. However, I would like to have one with a headstock such as 20th anniversary model.
tulk1 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Not to be nit picky (okay, yes I am!!) that 150 is Old Style Burst (OSB). On the PRS 25th, I've been jonesing over that new 305, myself. It's a beaut! Then again, I sorta want a Larrivee solid body, too. For that matter, I'd like a human solid body rather than the one I've currently got. Probably won't be able to swing any of these any time soon.
hiro Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 I wish they would do more to the 25th anniversary models. I agree with others, that there isn't enough to justify getting those versus a stock. The 25th 150 looks like mine sans pickup guard and 25th logo. That pic of the 20th anniversary H150 was the second one on my list. I didn't get it because of a few issues it had. It sounded beautiful though, but for $200 more there was a new H150 that sounded the same.

I agree with others, that there isn't enough to justify getting those versus a stock. I think you may be missing a basic point which is that the price is the exact same as the "stock" but you get a few upgrades for free notably the Ultra Wood upgrade, SD pups etc... in addition to it being a numbered collection. For some of us, including myself, that was all the justification we needed. Why buy a stock 535 when for the same price I can get the upgrades. P
TheKalamaZoo Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 H535 or H150? color? pickups? anyone have a guess as to what they will be going for? http://heritageguitar.com/25th_anniversary.html Hi Chico: You've seen mine ... a walnut 535. I was tempted to trade it in for a bright cherry red 535 that Rendall was playing at the fretboard festival in Kzoo last year, but my walnut finish seems to be a little less common. And thanks for sending word about the Heritage puddin' Christmas music back to the family in Kzoo.
smurph1 Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I'm so poor I won't be getting either, but the dark brown (Tobaccoburst?) 150..is truly a beauty..
tulk1 Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I'm so poor I won't be getting either, but the dark brown (Tobaccoburst?) 150..is truly a beauty.. Heritage doesn't have a Tabacco Burst.
Poelbaum Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Heritage doesn't have a Tabacco Burst. Actually Jay Wolfe told me that Heritage has a colour code for tobaccoburst that they make for him all the time. In fact if you look at Jay's inventory at Gbase, you will see he has many he sells as "tobaccoburst". It is a slight variation on OSB or ASB (I forget which). I am not sure how these are coded on the labels from heritage, perhaps someone here has bought a "tobaccoburst" from Jay and can comment on that.

I still don't think those were Tobacco Burst guitar finishes. But I certainly like the idea. I had asked Vince if they had something like that, less OSB, not quite ASB. He said DASB. Wish he'd mentioned the Tobacco Burst. Would that be TSB?
smurph1 Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 I just think the dark brown is gorgeous, and I personally don't care that the headstock isn't bound..I just know it would sound dynamite!!
