Thundersteel Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Wow! That looks like waves in the ocean--very pretty!
Dick Seacup Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Is that a lefty 170? Holy smokes that guitar looks clean!
Sparky Posted February 12, 2008 Author Posted February 12, 2008 Yep... a lefty custom-made strung righty H170CMSM with a few upgrades... neck & headstock binding, tune-o-matic instead of Schaller bridge, ebony fretboard and pickguard not attached. I took the pickguard out of the case for the first time last week and they shipped me a righty instead of a lefty! Gotta get in touch with them on that. Waited 1 week short of a year for it, turned out to be worth the wait. When the coils are split it sounds very Tele like.
slider313 Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 That's a beauty !!! All the best with it.
doggy1972 Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Goes to prove they didnt just make plain old boring 170s. Nice guitar!
Dick Seacup Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 How do the Stagmags sound unsplit? +1...inquiring minds need to know.
tulk1 Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Nice guitar. Would love to hear clips. I could never wait that long for a guitar. I'd have to buy something else, in between anyway.
doggy1972 Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Nothing gets past us Heritagians eh Dick!
Mikenov Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 That is a great looking guitar. That was my vote for favorite Heritage finish. My next one will deffinately be trans blue. Congrats!
yoslate Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Waited 1 week short of a year for it, turned out to be worth the wait. Sparky: Not a real fan of those, but I must remark, that one is easily the nicest I've seen! Really a stunning piece! I'd own that thing in a heartbeat! Thanks for the observation on the wait being worth it. I'm at ten months on my Super; I've heard nothing, but I have faith, and thinking it'll be what I ordered, and more, gives me patience because I don't think I'll see it any time soon! Congrats on a very, very nice plank!

Yoslate, Don't be afraid to pick up the phone and call Heritage... if I hadn't done so this guitar would have ended up with a black back (I had originally asked for "black-back" Duncans and they misinterpreted the order). Call 'em up and get a status report... and double check each aspect of your order... believe me they won't mind and it'll help you sleep at night!
yoslate Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Sparky, Thanks! Not in my nature, but will do. I'm assuming I should speak to Ren?
Sparky Posted February 13, 2008 Author Posted February 13, 2008 Yoslate, When I was calling, Bill Paige was answering the phone and he would do the leg-work. It would be like "Hold on... I'll go see" and he'd put the phone down and find your order and go talk to whoever and come back and tell you. If they tell you they'll call you back... tell them you don't mind holding and wait on the phone for your answer. Nothing worse than waiting for a call that never comes. If you can, get them to understand that you don't mind if its going to take longer than expected (even though you do), you just want to know approximately when so you can plan on being around when it arrives. People have a tendency to tell you what they think you want to hear rather than the truth. Chat them up a little bit... get them to empathize with your situation. If they tell you it will be another month... mark that on your calendar and call them on that day for another status report. Speak to the same person who gave you the last ship date. Be nice... the squeaky wheel may get the grease but its much better to have allies than enemies... especially with a company you plan on doing future business with. Hope this helps....
Sparky Posted February 13, 2008 Author Posted February 13, 2008 +1...inquiring minds need to know. Not as hot as one might expect... somewhat scooped on the mids to bring clarity to the highs and lows. Although I truly enjoy singing hot distorted tones, the clean sounds to be had from these pick-ups are truly inspiring... and I find myself playing a lot cleaner because of it. Seymour Duncans website has audio samples of these and I believe all of their pick-ups. I'm some time away from adding my own audio clips... sorry.
yoslate Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Again: Thanks Spark, well advised! This is why I love this forum! Karma up, my friend!
cod65 Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 dude, you need to donate that lefty to me so I can string it up proper!

Kuz Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I completely agree about calling Heritage. They don't mind, and believe me they are used to people calling asking about their guitars. My dealer ordered 2 Heritages a 1.5 months before he ordered my Cust 555 in April '07. I received mine in late December'07 and the other 2 have not arrived yet. I am 100% confident I got my guitar because every 2.5-3 months I would call and ask about the guitar. It's the old squeaky wheel. If you don't call they will think you don't care that much about getting it. Trust me. And go over the specs with them too (mine came out the wrong color but they did get all the custom specs right) When I asked Bill Page about my original order invoice, he said until recently he kept them in a box at his home Ease your mind. Make sure they have an order and ask for an ETA. Don't assume your dealer is calling or putting enough pressure on them!
