H525

Question: I recently (2 months ago) purchased a new H525 from J.Hale Music. Checking around the web I've noticed that the H525 is usually described as a "Rock-a-billy" guitar and is configured with P90 pickups. My H525 is configured with Duncan (Seth Lovers) humbuckers. This guitar is an incredible blues guitar and with just the neck pickup it can play jazz with the best of them. Has anyone else seen this configuration? I usually play a Guild SF IV, but haven't touched the Guild in over two months!

Congrats, Seavitt, and welcome to the HOC. I think I recall that guitar at JHales and wondered about it since it had humbuckers. The 525 is a relatively new model for Heritage and it's not uncommon to see different pickup configs in them. I've a 525 (smile, purchased from brentrocks), it has the P90s in it and is a great instrument. I would imagine that seths (big fan of those pus, too!) would absolutely shine in the 525 hollow config.

Welcome!!!

HUMMM...seths, huh? it must have been a custom order?

got pics?

No, but the guitar is still on J. Hale Music's website (www.jhalemusic.com)with pictures. Look under Stringed Instruments, Archetops and then Heritage.

Is it just the non-floating tailpiece that distinguishes this from the 575? That's a great looking guitar by the way.

There are few differences, altho' they look to be the same guitar. I thought the 525 was just thinner until I actually looked at the specs:

575 Body Size :

Rim Thickness - 2 3/4"

Body Width - 16"

Body Length - 20 1/4"

525 Body Size :

Rim Thickness – 1 5/8"

Body Width – 16"

Body Length - 18"

That 525 with humbuckers is hot! I love it!

If I were to order one, it would likely be like this one but with an ebony fingerboard (what can I say, love the sound and feel), not worried about inlays so probably none on the fingerboard and I would see if they could still put the H floating tailpiece on there.

Beautiful 525, Sleavitt! Congratulations.

I saw that one on J.Hale's site also. What is the serial number? If it is one of the earlier models ('06 or '07) it may have been one of the first attempts at building a slimmed down 575 or an in between model that lead up to the 525, or simply a custom order. Hale should know the answer.

Play it in good health and welcome to the HOC.
