VermontainGoat
Hello all, Before I begin, first I'd like to comment that I enjoy the enthusiasm I've noticed from the people who have posted here about their love for their guitars. It's refreshing to see a bunch of healthy discussion about a shared passion. This is my first post, as my name implies I live in Vermont and though I'm not currently a Heritage owner, but I'm certainly interested in becoming one. Specifically, I've had my eye on a owning a H535. So I'd like to ask some questions about some things to consider as I am searching for the right instrument. My main question is about cost. I'm hoping to make an investment in an instrument that I will have for a very long time, possibly a lifetime so it is important to me that I find the right guitar for me. My price range is around $2000. Is it reasonable to think that I could afford a new instrument for this price? What options do I have when ordering, such as finish or neck width? If a new Heritage cost much more than what I'm able to spend at this time, what is the chance of finding a used instrument in like-new condition and is that an option I should consider, where should I look? Thanks in advance, VermontainGoat
ledzef
Welcome to our little community. You can choose from a wide variety of options when ordering boundheadstock, choice of pickups, matching pickguard and so on. Gbase.com is a good place to start to check out Heritages for sale new/used. Also check out member Jay Wolfe's website www.wolfeguitars.com, he always has a great selection of Heritages in stock and on order and he is extremely helpful and knowledgable. Enjoy. VermontainGoat
Thanks for the reply and the welcome. I thought also that it might be helpful to mention that just down the street from where I live is a guitar shop that is a Heritage dealer, so I could potentially order though them, and while I'm certainly committed to supporting local businesses I'm open to looking elsewhere if it seems like a reasonable option. Also, I'm assuming that all orders must be place through a dealer rather than directly through Heritage, is that correct?
ledzef
Not certain about that. I thought I remember seeing posts of certain members ordering directly through Heritage.
tulk1
Ordering thru a dealer is the preferred method, no doubt. And some dealers can give you better prices than others. Must be a tier thing. My fav dealer is in Edwardsville, Il. MojosMusic Loves Heritages and HoC members. Regardless of who you order thru, be sure to have the dealer mention you are a member of the HoC. Believe it or not, it carries some weight. Got any specs in mind?
blueox
. . . just down the street from where I live is a guitar shop that is a Heritage dealer, so I could potentially order though them . . . Welcome to the Club. To reward your local dealer, I would try to order through them unless they already have a Heritage in stock that would suit your fancy. In either case, it's nice to have someone close at hand if various issues come up down the road. Of course, if price is a factor (and for most of us, it is), this will have to be discussed with your dealer before you make any move. While I haven't dealt with them, another option is a dealer in the next state west of you in Hudson Falls, NY: Adirondack Guitar

Seemed nice. AND! they have an H-110 in stock. That's a rarity ... so far. Not my choice of color, but still a cool guitar. And they've got a 535, as well. tbonesullivan
I picked up my 1999 H-535 off ebay for around $1200. There are a LOT of great used Heritage guitars around out there. You also might be able to easily score a H-555 (535 + more bling) for under $2000.
hubberjub
I picked up my 535 used from Wolfe Guitars for just over a thousand about three years ago. Even if they weren't such outstanding instruments they represent a fabulous value. $2000 will get you into an instrument that you will cherish for years to come.
