Salutemysolution Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Alright this is just kind of a random question, but has anyone ever had a guitar refinished? I love my goldtop H 150, but I find myself wishing it was black sometimes. Chances are I wouldn't go through with it, but I wondered if it is even feasible. I'm sure it would cost a great deal as well.
barrymclark Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 I have had a couple refinished. Depending on how extensive the prep work is... I find the prices pretty reasonable. Normally about the $300 mark if all goes well. That has been my experience.
Gitfiddler Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Check with Brent. He's had a few refins done and has a good local factory connection in Kalamazoo. But then again, Brent might as well be considered a Heritage 'Made Man'!
big bob Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 if you are willing to do the work, it's very inexpensive. Kinda fun too.
Salutemysolution Posted November 24, 2009 Author Posted November 24, 2009 I'm not afraid of the work, but I would rather someone who knew what they were doing to do it. It seems like refinishing in black would be easier than some other colors. I would probably do it for 300 bucks. I may email Heritage and get a quote.

Who knows what Heritage would charge if they would even do it.

hubberjub Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Have you considered trading it for a black 150? You might be able to find a willing soul.
Salutemysolution Posted November 24, 2009 Author Posted November 24, 2009 Have you considered trading it for a black 150? You might be able to find a willing soul. I have considered that, but I'm really attached to this particular guitar. It has a really good feel and the neck is just the right size for me. Also, it has an ebony fretboard which I don't see a lot of on the H 150s. I ordered it as a goldtop, but I really wish I had gotten it in black. There is just something about the black with the cream pickguard.
skydog Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Here's a great place to study up on refinishing: http://www.reranch.com/reranch/
