tulk1 Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Anyone got a guitar with the Dark Almond Burst? Would love to see examples. And yes, as the title "suggests" (lol), I'm freaking over that color now. Much like I did the Antique Sunburst.
LH575 Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Here is some ALSB http://www.heritageownersclub.com/forums/i...?showtopic=6512
tulk1 Posted November 25, 2009 Author Posted November 25, 2009 Here is some ALSB http://www.heritageownersclub.com/forums/i...?showtopic=6512 That is (of course) a fabulous looking guitar. However, it isn't Dark Almond Burst. I've got two gits myslef with ALSB. Would like to see some DALSB, if possible. Thanks, tho'.
jmc7581 Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 You've probably already seen this one - it's a "sold" 535 from Wolfe's: http://www.gbase.com/gear/heritage-h535-20...k-almond-burst# How do I happen to have this at my fingertips, you ask? Because I'm freaking over this color too!

Because I'm freaking over this color too! Does that appear to have a load of red in it? Or maybe my old color blind eyes are just seeing red and yellow in all the guitar finishes, now. I can't say as how any of my two ALSB guitars have anywhere near that much red. ARGH!!! So .... why you freaking over the color? Got something a'happening?

So .... why you freaking over the color? Got something a'happening? You're right - it does look very red, almost like a chestnutburst, maybe? I don't know - must be lots of variation, I guess. If you order a guitar, do you have any control over that? And why am I freaking? 'Cause I don't have a Heritage, nary a one, and I have my heart set on a 535 in that color, unless I get talked into this new Vintage Wine burst color; but nothing on the immediate horizon, sad to say!
grooveyard Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I have to agree it does look a bit red, it starts to remind me of the star-burst strats colors
Jazzpunk Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 My Dark Almond Burst 535. In person, the burst seems to have more brownish or 'almond' overtones but my camera really seems to accentuate the reds. Either way, I love it!
High Flying Bird Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 ....... unless I get talked into this new Vintage Wine burst color....... I saw two of these at the factory in July. Very nice!
SouthpawGuy Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 I saw two of these at the factory in July. Very nice! This one was for sale recently on TGP ... .. the more I see that finish the more I like it.
tulk1 Posted November 26, 2009 Author Posted November 26, 2009 Wow. The flash/camera really is bringing out the red, isn't it? Kinda like it brought out the yellow in the ASB. Glad to hear it's a bit browner than the pics are showing. So, it's really ALSB, but with more brown; maybe darker edges?
qcvol Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 My 150 is an Almond Burst but I'm not sure if it's a dark one. Mark http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z124/qc...lespauls003.jpg
brentrocks Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 My 150 is an Almond Burst but I'm not sure if it's a dark one. Mark OMG....that top is SICK!....get it a H1N1 shot!!!!!
High Flying Bird Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 This one was for sale recently on TGP ... My bad, the color I thought was Vintage Wineburst was all cherry, no "yaller" at all. Mo' like dis.'

High Flying Bird Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Chestnut burst ? Another great finish. Yep.
jhack Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Here is mine which is still at Jay's. It is one H-555 Dark almond sunburst finish. I hope to receive it next week.

That is very pretty, I love those bound f-holes. I'd probably even have my picks bound if I could. On staining the woods to get various colors, It ain't a science folks, it is an art, and is bound to vary from guitar to guitar depending on lots of variables. I sometimes wonder if the guitar isn't stained, and then when it dries they take a look at it and declare it such and such a color.

You'll have to do the preverbial pics and tone report when you get it. However .... argh!!! On my screen it's got a very red cast. I may look into calibrating my screen. That may be a lot of the problem when viewing these finishes. I see tons of red and yellow in nearly all of the colors, save the OSB. Could just be my colorblind eyes, too.

There's just a lot of red and yellow. For me, the one that looks the most like I imagine a "dark almond burst" is the back of Skydog's.

A little less yellow in the center, maybe. But yeah, that is a cool finish on that guitar.

I remember back where someone pulled his leg (ah, lied) and said it was a tobacco finish when they went to the plant and checked up on the Super for him.....
