It's cranking as I type this. What did you use to record it?
bolero Posted November 29, 2009 Author Posted November 29, 2009 I used a Rode NT4 stereo mic, had L pointed at the amp & R @ 90 degrees I guess I need to file out the nut, you can hear the ping while tuning amp is an old, ugly looking traynor from the '60's or early '70's....I'm beginning to think ugly amps sound the best...
tulk1 Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Tried the link. It wants me to download something, but doesn't say it's the song file.
JeffB Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Some classic sounds right there. Cool. Thanks for sharing.
pegleg32 Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 There are several websites where you can put your music and it doesn't need to be downloaded. ReverbNation and Myspacemusic come to mind. I know Brent has used several.
tulk1 Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 I went ahead and clicked the "download" and it gave me an option to open. So I did that. Sounds good. Did I miss what amp this is?
bolero Posted November 29, 2009 Author Posted November 29, 2009 man, what a pain...ok try this http://www.reverbnation.com/justcrap *edit* well I just listened to this & that site must have dithered(?) the mp3 to stream it, sounds a bit lowfi & crappy IMO....anyway you get the idea

bolero Posted November 29, 2009 Author Posted November 29, 2009 ha, thx guys...I think I'll keep that thing, it sounds pretty good...just gotta work on my playing a bit lol these amps are still a bargain IMO, you can find them for less than $500 all day long & they are tone powerhouses
LK155 Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Hey, Bolero, Great sounds. Brings back memories of Traynors in my past. What model amp is that? And what speakers are you using?
bolero Posted November 30, 2009 Author Posted November 30, 2009 it's a yba3 custom special cab is an old marshall A cab loaded with scumbacks
LK155 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 OK, so here's a totally irrelevant Traynor moment for you.......... Barrie, Ontario, Canada, February 196?. Saturday night, about 20 below zero, and snowing like mad. Pretty well the only place to be in those days on a Saturday night in Barrie was the Embassy Club, because they had live entertainment. That night it was to be The Left Bank, whose one and only hit was Just Walk Away Rene, but hey, to us hicks, those guys were big stars. Because of the storm, the group made it to the club, but their gear didn't. At the time, I was in a high-school rock band, and we weren't playing that night. About 7 p.m. we got a call from the Club.......could they possibly borrow our amps for The Left Bank to use? Well, jeez louise, of course they could! We dragged our gear through the snow and got it set up for them. Three identical stacks: Traynor YBA1 Bassmasters, each with a Traynor 2x12. Anyway, about 9 p.m. the Left Bank started up and sounded pretty good. Very good, in fact, having no problem completely filling that hall with sound. We were all preening in the back of the room, proud that this famous group was actually using our equipment. Quite a thrill. At the end of the second set, the band's equipment truck finally arrived. When asked if the Traynors should be ditched in favor of the group's own equipment (Vox SuperBeatles, if memory serves), they said hell no, these Canadian things sound great. Leave 'em right where they are. So, yeah, Traynors get the job done. I vividly remember the first time I turned mine up past 2 on the clean channel (in my bedroom, of course).....damn near took the roof off the house. My parents were not pleased.
TalismanRich Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 it's a yba3 custom special cab is an old marshall A cab loaded with scumbacks OUCH, a YBA3???? Your chiropractor should love you! I remember hauling our bass player's YBA3 to jobs. Add his twin double 15" cabinets and I came understand why the big guys have roadies.
slider313 Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Nice! You can hear that the amp has BIG transformers. The more core iron the bigger the tone and that's big tone for sure. Does that model have four EL34's?
bolero Posted December 1, 2009 Author Posted December 1, 2009 yup, it weighs quite a bit....that's why I was going to get rid of it, but I knew there was a reason I still had it 4xEL34 LK, great story...!! the weak point with Traynors was the speakers...plug an old one into a good cab & watch out!! I was just noodling around, playing with the vol/tone/pup controls...wasn't even planning on sharing it until I listened back & heard the variety of sounds but thx guys! next time I'll post some more organized playing
