erictheweasel Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Hi Everyone, total noob, here, but I had an important question. A local music store is a former Heritage dealer. They have one guitar left that they are blowing out just to get rid of it. It's an H157 Classic in black. It is essentially an NOS instrument, as its never left the store. I'm not sure how old it is, but I'd guess it's probably a 2004 or 2005. Anyway, the asking price is $1,000.00. My question is what would these sell for new. Nobody seems to have them in stock, at least not online. Is the 157 no longer manufactured? It garners no mention on the Heritage website. I'm assuming that most folks here would tell me to pounce! Thanks, eric

High Flying Bird Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 If you are wanting this guitar you had better not let any of us know the name of the store. It is a great deal!

Thanks, eric Sounds like a very good deal to me. If I remember correctly the 157 Classic had Duncan 59s' instead of Schaller or HRW pickups. You can date the guitar by the serial #, info here : http://www.heritageownersclub.com/info_serials.htm#table
chico Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 You better MOVE on this one.. that is a great price assuming it's not a factory 2 (which would be shown as a "2" under the serial #) or otherwise messed up.
Thundersteel Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 If it is indeed new, and not a factory second, you need to RUN, not walk, to the store and grab it for that price!
brentrocks Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 HOLY SHEEEEETTTT BUY IT NOW OR YOU WILL REGRET IT FOR THR REST OF YOUR LIFE

erictheweasel Posted December 6, 2009 Author Posted December 6, 2009 They're open on Sunday's before Christmas, and they were willing to take 100.00 down! It's a 2005, first run, with Duncans. Plays like buttah. I feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Callaway Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 When I was married I used to keep this real crappy old kind of universal case that a Strat or a Les Paul would fit in for a short ride from a show or a store when a new would just followed me home and jump in the car, the new case would remain in the trunk until it was sufficiently cooled off, the new fiddle would come inside in the old beater it worked like a champ. Now I'm not condoning this however women have been doing this ions with clothes and quite frankly it comes down to a mans got to do what a mans got to do when the deal is just too good. Oh by the way I still have that old case and all the guitars it was the surrogate home for, the pain in the drain took the train so all's well that ends well. That's also the benefit of having a whole bunch of guitars those big ole black, tan or tweed cases all start looking the same to anyone without a trained eye LOL.
JeffB Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Do it. Go in and put some money on it now. Dont hang about. In time your wife will get over it. There are other things that you are going to to that will annoy and distract her.

erictheweasel Posted December 7, 2009 Author Posted December 7, 2009 Excellent ! Does this mean it will be under the tree ? It might sneak in behind the tree! Actually, the guy who sold it to me is Chris Bovard. The same Chris Bovard behind the Kahuna model.
