Sparky Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Anyone know if the spacing on these are the same as a standard tailpiece? I just don't like the bulky look of the Schaller, and if I buy a used Heritage I'd like to just switch them out.
Dick Seacup Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I think this has been discussed, but I can't go search for it right now. My recollection is that the standard Nashville and Tuna-matic tailpieces will work, but some of the more experienced modders would need to chime in before I went and bought something on my recommendation!
JohnCovach Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 It is a straight switch, but you'll need both the tailpiece and the posts, since the Schaller posts will not work with a standard Gibson style tailpiece. The new posts screw right into the fittings on your guitar. Be aware that you'll need the US style, not the metric one (which is on some Korean-made guitars, like Epiphone, as I recall). You can get the tailpiece and posts you need from Stewmac for less than $30, shipped in the US. And for those who prefer the Schaller stop tailpiece, I still have two of those babies left, complete with posts--$20 each.
Sparky Posted February 15, 2008 Author Posted February 15, 2008 Thanks guys... now I won't be afraid to pull the trigger when a lefty Heritage opportunity comes along!
