paul144 Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Thought I'd post this tutorial I made. The low E string saddle on my Tuneamatic style guitars always seem to dig into the side of my hand...not anymore! This is a really easy & comfortable mod anyone can do themselves with a little care and patience. Happy Holidays!
paul144 Posted December 25, 2009 Author Posted December 25, 2009 oops, forgot to include the .99 nail file in the list...you can get these at any Harmon Discount or CVS, etc.
yoslate Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Nice pics of the process! That original saddle had quite a point! And you're right in slapping masking tape threefold everywhere...can't be too careful. And I couldn't help but notice (it's what we do here) that your "B" and "E" strings seem unseated. Did you re-cut those saddles, or is that just some photographic aberration?
paul144 Posted December 25, 2009 Author Posted December 25, 2009 wow, you have an eye for details! Yes they were re-cut. Thanks!
Kuz Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 Great Tutorial. Very well documented. But I can say that I honestly have never had that problem with my hand getting pinched by the saddles. Must be a different hand position for me when I play.
Thundersteel Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 I wonder if I can do that to the sides of my H150 & Hamers--the sharp body edges cut into my forearm!
paul144 Posted December 26, 2009 Author Posted December 26, 2009 sure, just substitute the small file with one of these
