erplander Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 The box arrived from Jay Wolfe yesterday. Because of the frigid cold weather we've been having here, I let it sit in the box for an hour or two, then took the case out of the box and let it sit overnight just to be safe. That wasn't easy! This morning I opened her up, and what a sight! Mine's in Antique Natural, but Jay asked them to add a little more yellow tint to give more of a blond look. Mine has a hefty 50s style neck, feels great, a lot like my R7, noticeably beefier than my H150 neck, but not a baseball bat by any means. Feels just right for me. It's also got Lollar Imperials regular wind and RS vintage style electronics. The guitar plays great. Have not noticed any problems with the nut or fretwork. Sounds big and bold unplugged. So far I've played it through a Mesa Mark V and a BF Deluxe Reverb, and it sounds just fantastic. I'm really looking forward to spending some time with this beauty. THe Heritqge gang really got it right with this one. So here a re a few pics. I'm not not much of a photographer and my camera is not so great either, but you can get the idea, I think. THe flash in some of the pictures makes the finish look a little more orange/amber than it does in person.
JeffB Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Looks great. Like the extra splat of yellow in the mix. Congrats.
big bob Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 looking good. how does she sound through the clean channel?
FredZepp Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Excellent !!!! That is as sweet as any 535 that I have ever seen. And nice electronics too... The pics came out nice.. I don't know how you waited overnight, that would be impossible!!! Seems like you're in love with this one already...!
yoslate Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Congrats, and happy new guitar year, erp'. Beauty! That one's just right, from where I sit! Beautiful color....

pegleg32 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Very beautiful guitar, congrats erplander. I like the touch of the off yellow pickup switch cover. It meshes nicely with the overall color of the guitar.
111518 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Classic guitar ...and I greatly admire your self control. Isn't it a killer when the cardboard is icy to the touch? gotta wait. gotta wait. Gotta see new guitar! NO. Gotta wait.
tulk1 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 What a beautiful specimen!! Is that an upgraded wood package? Or did you just get lucky? Awesome color choice, as well. edit: Duh!! It's a 25th with the upgraded wood package. Ya dummy (just thought I'd say it for you. )
erplander Posted December 31, 2009 Author Posted December 31, 2009 Thanks, everyone. Yes, it was really hard waiting. Fortunately I was busy enough with lots of other things to distract me. After Jay telling me on the phone how nice it looked, I didn't want to take any chances on checking the finish. It sounds great through the Mesa's clean channel but even better through the Deluxe Reverb. Spent some time playing the guitar today. It's a keeper.
FredZepp Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 After Jay telling me on the phone how nice it looked, There's a feelin' good moment , for sure.
Foggy Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Congrats! She's a real beauty. Waiting overnight? You must be a very patient soul. I wouldn't have slept a wink!

brentrocks Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Congrats! Thanks for helping Heritage in these hard times, by buying a new one!!!
Poelbaum Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 What a great finish. We have discussed before what you ordered, and to me, that looks like exactly what you described. Congrats on a great guitar. I spoke to Jay yesterday. He just received my 25th anniversary 535 Vintage Wine Burst and says it looks awesome. He will ship it out to me on Tuesday as we both agreed that it didn't need to sit in a cold warehouse over the holiday. I only hope mine is as gorgeous as yours. Happy new year and happy new guitar. pics and posts of mine to follow as soon as its in the house. ENJOY !

nachogrande Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Congracts! She looks fantastic. And the guy who sits at the right of your 25th ann. H-535 looks like one of our traditional instrument which is called "UD":
mark555 Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Great looking guitar, is this your first heritage?
erplander Posted January 1, 2010 Author Posted January 1, 2010 Poelbaum, I'm looking forward to seeing yours in VWB! nachogrande, that is indeed an oud. It's an Arabic-style one that my wife got for me in Syria. I love playing it, but I have much to learn. mark555, this is my second Heritage. I've also got an H150 (great guitar!). After some more time to get used to the new guitar, I'm really loving the feel of it. I like how it's just a little smaller than a 335. The Lollars sound really good in it and are pretty sensitive to how hard or soft I play. I have noticed that some "pings" when I adjust the tuning. Maybe a little graphite or nut grease will fix it, if not I may have to have the nut looked at. Also, the frets are bigger than the ones on my H150 and will take a little getting used to. No biggie.
