studiobill Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Hello everybody! I own 3 heritage guitars and am in the process of modifying my 535 with a piezo / midi system from graph tech. I do a solo act and have been using various brian moore or godin guitars over the years. It's really a great option for me as a solo artist to be able to get acoustic guitar emulation and also be able to play a trumpet solo from the same guitar. My desire to retrofit the 535 came about because I had to play Christmas eve and decided to take my 535 for a change. I had so much fun playing it that I now want it to be my main guitar. I realized that the brian moore guitar is nice but is really more a tool while the 535 just felt like a real instrument to me. Which brings me to my question. My 535 has the old style roller bridge and odd tailpiece. As I look at the graph tech site, I can't figure out which replacement bridge will fit it. Will the tone - pros type bridge work? They also have a shaller replacement bridge on their website. http://www.graphtech.com/products.html?SubCategoryID=89 I may replace the tailpiece also but I'm assuming that most stop tailpieces will fit. The wiring is going to be a nightmare but I'm anxious to start taking the 535 to the gig. Thanks for any help. Bill
rooster Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 If you go onto the Stewart-MacDonald website (www.stewmac.com), you can look at the technical drawings of the Schaller roller bridges, and the other Tune-O-matic style bridges they offer. That way, you can see what the dimensions as far as distance between the posts, diameters of the posts, etc., are before you order. rooster.
tulk1 Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I've been thinking of doing that, as well. Altho' most piezo retrofits sound rather thin to my ears. My Millie SAE needed a preamp, badly. But it sounded okay in the mix. You might want to look at the Naturacoustic Bridge. The sounds bytes are pretty cool. Its what I'm looking at for the Millie NFH.
